  1. Just a quick headsup to everyone in here that I finally have a music page thingie! It's all very early days, but please do go have a listen, and tell me what you think, even if you happen to think it's complete shit :P

Feedback of any sort is always appreciated :)

  2. Are the bass sounds in Cry Wolf and BreakSequence software or hardware?

  3. It's all software, I'm too skint for any decent hardware :D

  4. The bass sounds nice. What did you use for it?

  5. It's actually 3 different softsynths. I use either Sylenth, Alchemy, or a couple of other virtual analogues for the wide PWM sounds, a neat little FM synth called VOPM which is super-easy to use and emulates the Sega Genesis, for the clangy midrangey sounds, and a pure sinewave for subs.

Quantify kicks ass!!! Reminds me of Faderhead - Tanz Zwo Drei Vier.

  11. Totally agreed, you seem to know what you're doing, when are you putting out an album? :)

  12. In all seriousness, thank you all for the responses :)

@ Sumez - I'm hoping to get something released by the end of this year, if not, early 2011 :) I shall let everybody know.

  13. Cry Wolf kicks ass! I really like the eneregtic dark EBM with the aggressive vocals and clear singing combination. Quantify is also great, but it needs vocals. If you release a full-length album with songs like these, I will definitely buy it.

Stutter and Where the Dirt Meets the Sand show great promise, here's to a finished product. You utilize some curious sounds on those two and add them throughout the duration to draw in the listener, kudos. The others could be anyone out there, rather nondescript. Scrap them.

Really great stuff! I think it sounds as good as anything out there right now.

  16. Cheers all! Thank you for the encouragement.

@ Bubba - Not gonna scrap the other stuff, but I can see why you could see it as being nondescript. Maybe I should take it as a sign that in future I need to consolidate my more poppy and more experimental stuff, but I'm kind of too far into writing the record to go in a drastically different direction now. Thankyou for the input regardless :)

  17. I don't like albums to mix different genres. I listen to certain albums based on what I'm in the mood for at the time, which is why I don't like them going all over the map when it comes to different styles.

bubba said that your material other than "Stutter" and "Where the Dirt Meets the Sand" could be anyone out there, but I disagree. Your vocals sound rather unique to you since you don't distort the fuck out of them like a lot of bands in this scene do, and there's definitely a different style to your music as well.

"Cry Wolf" and "Quantify" fit within the dark harsh EBM genre, but that doesn't automatically make them sound like anyone out there. Your experimental tracks don't appeal to me, and sound rather undercooked to be honest.

Only you can decide which direction that you want to take your music in, but from my perspective "Cry Wolf" and "Quantify" are about as good as the music some of my favorite artists in this scene make, and I would like to get an entire album with songs like those.

  18. Don't listen to Bubba. It's true the other tracks don't have as unique a sound, but it's still your tracks, and other people obviously like them, and if you like them too, there's no reason not to keep them. I personally like it when an artist mixes unique tracks with a more personal touch with more easily accessible tracks that helps you get into the album, and generally I like diversity on albums. It makes you notice every track more.

Unlike Wrapped in Wire I don't mind mixing genres on an album either. Usually you'd want the tracks to at least have something in common (which is hard to avoid when they're all made by the same person anyway), but some times I just like it when an artist goes in a completely unexpected direction, showing off his ability to master different sounds. I prefer it to having 10 different side projects any day.
