any reWire Gurus out there?

    What I want to do.... I learned that Ableton Live 8 can be run as either ReWire Master or Slave...and unfortunately it lacks some polyphonic aftertouch which is needed for for instance wordbuilder in the Eastwest choir libs...fortunately I seem to have won a Steinberg audio Interface with Cubase 5 AI bundled (well at least that's what Sonic Seducer says *G*)
    and I want to run (if possible) now Cubase 5 as ReWire Slave to cope up the missing features in Ableton...

    has anyone already tried something like that?

    that's unfortunately not what I want...I want Ableton to be ReWire Master and Cubase 5 as ReWire Slave...but unfortunately this seems not to be possible....well then...let's find another solution...would have been too cool...

    It is definitely possible.

    Are you seeing any error messages? What OS are you using?

    I am reading here: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=133673

    - Right-click on the Live8.1.1.exe and choose 'Properties'.

    - In the following Window click on the 'Compatibility' tab. Check the box for 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and choose from the drop-box-menu beneath 'Windows Vista (Service Pack2)'.

    - Then start Live.

    - You've to re-authenticate Live.
    So, if u've Live already installed Live on a Desktop and on a laptop like me (and thus used both of your Unlocks), u need to contact the support, tell them your problem and ask for additional Unlocks for your license (they gave me extra ones, too).

    - After re-authentication, I restarted Live one more time and closed it again. So, when I finally started Cubase 5, 'Ableton Live ReWire' showed up in the Device menu and Live automatically started in Slave mode.

    Yes it is possible to use Cubase as Master and Ableton as Slave....that's correct....but I want it the other way round :-)

    ableton as slave was possible to achieve....

    Ack. Sorry. I am a retard. I have no clue why I was not comprehending your issue, haha??

    Yeah, Cubase will not run as a ReWire Slave. unfortunately.

    If I may ask, what was your plan if this worked? What advantages do you see?

    the problem is the following....Ableton does not provide in Version 8 Polyphonic aftertouch...this on the other hand is needed for the word builder in the eastwest choir library....without this you only can generate aahs and oohs...also Cubase 5 offers these new expression settings for orchestral libs....so I thought I could use Ableton (with which i built around 80% of the song) to link in Cubase for the Choir part and the orchestral goodies....well I now fixed it the following way....arranged the orchestral and choir parts in Cubase 5 and routed it through another audio interface
    connected one MIDI In/Out and use Ableton as MIDI Clock Master....the Audio Way is done via the other audio interface....the basic setup runs...if it is tight I will see when I record the whole thing :-)
