Been into swans lately, but I only have sountracks for the blind (which I don't really like, not into post rocky/ambient stuff) My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky and The Great Annihilator, of which the first was my favourite album this year, and the other is great too.

Can someone please post a couple of their fav angels of light tracks?

And what other Swans albums do you reccomend?

I also have Young God but I have enough old school indusrial sounding stuff...but need more of the industrialish bluesish folkish rock stuff they do...

For Swans - Pick up Various Failures, or Children of God/World of Skin, which to my mind is earthy and pungent and sets to music a lot of the themes and atmoshpere found in (US) Southern Gothic literature. For Angels - Start with New Mother. Songs: The Man with the Silver Tongue, or Praise Your Name. Another tremendous song, and very much in the style of Swans, is My True Body, from the album How I Loved You.

I'd post links, but at the moment that just isn't working.

Since your an Aussie, I'm sure you've heard of These Immortal Souls? You may like songs like Marry Me, or All the Money's Gone, especially if you're a Nick Cave man.

A few more artists you may like (and all with videos available on Youtube) - Matt Elliott, especially for the song Something About Ghosts. Benjamin Smoke is another you should certainly hear, if only for the song Curtains. Six Organs of Admittance, Munly, Wovenhand, Larsen.. There's a lot of stuff out there you'd probably like, and just checking into Michael Gira's Young God Records label for starters is a pretty good bet too.

Wich I could post videos, but I'm sure you'll find enough here to keep you busy for a while. Hope it helps.

    ZOMFG!!!!

This shit reminds me of the bad seeds, but with different topics and feel.

Thanks so much. Yes I am a big Nick Cave fan (Except the birthday party...couldn't get into it as much...although I only have Prayers on Fire)

I only know the track 'Marry Me' but I really like that track. I'll have to look into these immortal souls more since you recommended them :)

I'll have to get these albums. And check out those other artists. Thanks heaps yakayaka.

I haven't seen you post here before actually...

edit: Yeah I can see myself really liking this band. the bad seeds are my favourite, and this is quite similar in atmosphere and some of the sounds.

    thanks again!

this is such a heavy track. Haven't heard anything as dark or brutal.

    wow.

I really like Children of God, and can now understand what No-wave means.

a lot of the album sounds like Laibach actually...
