Any yamaha an1x users here? Question:

For a specific sound, i need to modulate filter cutoff with the LFO.
How the hell i do that!?? Read the manual with no help..

  2. You are trying to make a wobble bass with the AN1x?

    http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/synth/AN1xE1.PDF

It's on page 53-58. Assign the matrix controller to PEG-LFO and you can control the rate of the modulation. On Page 68 it tells you where to set the depth for the filter.

That should get you going :D

Wobble bass? Hell no! everybody these days are trying to produce dubstep....

What i'm looking for, is arpeggiated resonating sound with slowly moving filter cutoff (hard to explain with my crappy english..).
I sold my MS2000 and now i'm re-programming some sounds with an1x (I just loved that ms2000's virtual patch thing).

But hey, big thanks! :) i'm going to check that out when i get back home.

  4. lol. Sorry man. You say modulate filter cut-off with LFO and dub-step immediately comes to mind. Trust me, you ask that anywhere else you will get the same answer. If I just wanted to slowly modulate a filter I just do it by hand and record the CC values. You can do the same thing though, just set the rate really low and adjust the depth. You have two LFO's as well with the AN1x, so you can modulate the OSC separately, have them pull apart or converge.

Why did you sell the MS2k? I don't think I'll never sell mine. So many possibilities with that beast. I had the AN1x for a while and got rid of it. I don't really like the matrix set-up. I have a CS1x as well though and I just thought it sounded nastier and digital so I kept it.

got it working! the fmod depth knob + slow LFO did the trick. and no offence man, just dubstep overload for me (i hear it everywhere) :D
    great music in small amounts.

The MS2000: Well it's kind of time+space issue (small apartment, dayjob etc). And also i felt that too many synths eats the creativity. So decided to cut down my synths to just 3. And it worked! some deep programming..
And one thing was also that i'm moving from harsh electro more to the industrial metal.
Nothing wrong with the MS. I still miss it's great look, easy interface and all the crazy things you can do with it.
Damn but i just needed to do it..:/ it was AN1x vs. MS2000 and the an1x won.

I also kept the CS2x :D and Blofeld keyboard, great synth.

ARRRRRK wobble bass lol, COME ONE Modulate the cutoff with the LFO or(assign it to the mod wheel)is one of the most BASIC think to know when you got a synth !If you don't know this , what the hell are you doing with your synth?!?

  7. Hey! No judgments here. Have you played the x series Yamahas? The matrix menu is a bitch.

First of all, i haven't used my an1x like half and year. now i'm starting to get really deep in to it.
Like with blofeld and ms2000 those modulation routines were goddamn easy to do. So i left my an1x bit to the side (shame, with that potential).
like michael said, there's a bit of learning curve with x series yamahas. I had so small amount of time to use for music, that i got bit frustrated for that interface.

And i used to make harsh electro. like you would need some complicated modulations to produce that (no offence) :DD
