offlineMemberWell, here are some first personal thoughts about the new amGod - album which I had the opportunity to listen to for several times.
First of all it is great to have an artist like Dominik van Reich with his project amGod back. After "strange" behaviour/release policy by a former label concerning the last amGod - releases I feel very happy that amGod found a new label home in Alfa Matrix.
Having all the "old" yelworC - and amGod - output back in mind I gave "Dreamcatcher" a lot of attention.
I will not give a review for every single song on the 3CD - set since I think that this album works or should work as whole.
The first CD "Creeped & bloody" is my favorite. Having strong tracks on it like "On The Hunt", "Fight!", "Like A Prayer" combined with an atmosphere that I think only Mr. van Reich ca create. "Massaker" was the track on disc #1 I do not like that much due to its lyrics and yes, I admit Tommi Stumpff got me on my very last nerve way back in the past with a certain track ;-)
The 2nd disc "Harsh & Dirty" had also some great moments ("Dreamcatcher", "The Guilty Have No Rights") but the disappointing part was the "Soulhunter 2010" - track. You cannot top the original version in my humble opinion.
The 3rd disc (which comes with the limited edition) had remixes on it of which some give the tracks a new "colour" and make the tracks more "driving".
All in all you will get amGod and you will like it for the typical complex, mulit-layered (Nader! *g*) elements, sacral and ethno - moments.
Another Plus is that Mr. van Reich has a unique sound and is neither copying anyone nor using the "hellektro - winning formula"!I missed some more aggressive fast tracks with more distorted vocals in the vain of "Fire", "Gismo" or "In The Orbit Of A Comet".

offlineMemberi originally was just going to buy the 2 disc set and just illegally download the 3rd disc, remixes are just meh most of the time to me. the artwork for the remix disc of all the artists pictures is REALLY cool and i am glad i opted to buy the 3 disc set.

offlineMemberThe triple cd is frickin' great! I'm still absorbing, will be working on a review shortly. I think the metal/crossover fans can find stuff to like on the 1st disc, the dark electro heads can find things to like on the 2nd disc.. and the 3rd disc is all over the place. But yes, overall, a very nice package. Nice artwork and packaging, etc., think in this case the 3-disc is the way to go.

Both cd's will grow on you with every listen. The 3rd cd features a few standout remixes. Dom is already working on new material!!!He's simply unstoppable:)

Viele, viele Jahre sind seit dem letzten Lebenszeichen ins Land gezogen. Bekannt geworden als Frontmann der legendären Band yelworC, hatte Dominik van Reich nach der Trennung sein eigenes Projekt AMGOD ins Leben gerufen. 1994 erschien mit „Half Rotten And Decayed“ ein sehr beeindruckendes Debut. Stücke wie „Fire“, „Overlove“ oder „Silence Besides The Sun“ haben sich als wahre Evergreens entpuppt und werden immer noch als Klassiker gehandelt. Dass Dominik nichts verlernt hat, ganz im Gegenteil, beweist sein neuester Streich! Das Album „Dreamcatcher“ besteht aus 2 Kapiteln, verteilt auf 2 CDs mit jeweils 13 Songs. Wie man sieht und hört, hat amGod die Jahre der Stille genutzt! 26 Songs hat der Darkelektrosoundtüftler geschmiedet, die den Hörer zu fesseln wissen. Thematisch setzt sich „Dreamcatcher“ mit Abgründen der Menschheit und dem Verfall der heutigen Gesellschaft auseinander. Das Auge isst/hört bekanntlich mit und so enthalten beide CDs ein 20 seitiges Booklet mit beeindruckenden, verstörenden, abartigen Illustrationen des Künstlers Phil Amelung!
Dominiert auf der 1.CD "Creeped & Bloody" die Elektronik, rücken auf der 2.CD "Harsh & Dirty" die Gitarrensounds ein wenig mehr in den Vordergrund. Eines kann man schon mal vorweg sagen: Liebhaber von vielschichtigen Kompositionen und dunklen Elektrosounds kommen hier voll auf ihre Kosten! Mit „God-Complex (Part 2)“ beginnt das 1.Kapitel sehr stimmig und betörend. Vielversprechend und mit fesselnden Klängen geht es auch mit dem folgenden Lied „Absorb“ weiter. Bei „Pain & Desire“ lässt es Dominik van Reich ordentlich krachen. Apokalyptische Sounds und knallende Beats bringen jede Tanzfläche zum Brodeln. Top! Perfekt verwendete Sounds lassen bei „Nightmare“ eine tolle Horrorfilmszenerie entstehen. Weiter geht es mit der Elektrohymne „Like A Prayer“. Ein Song der extrem viel Potential besitzt und sich mit jedem Hörer weiter ins Ohr frisst. Das geniale „Cyberchrist“ folgt, eingebettet durch albtraumartige Glockenspielklänge. Fette Gitarrenriffs gepaart mit druckvollen Beats, fliegen dem Hörer bei „No Comment“ um die Ohren. Dass es auch gemächlicher zur Sache gehen kann, und dies unglaublich beeindruckend, macht „Deep Down“ deutlich. Bei „Massaker“ zieht ein Breakbeatgewitter auf und man könnte fast meinen, dass Prodigy bei Dominik im Studio sassen. Der Song steht der Erfolgskombo in Nichts nach. Wer auf Frickel- und Flächensounds steht, sollte unbedingt „Fight!“ Gehör schenken. „On The Hunt“ entpuppt sich als technoide Industrialclubnummer, die sofort zum Mitwippen verführt. „Stigmata“ punktet durch sehr schleppende und düstere Elektrosequenzen. Der letzte Song stellt „The End..“ dar. Langsame und sphärische Klänge werden durch laute Ausbrüche unterbrochen. Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm!
Kapitel Nummer 2 startet mit dem Song „Dreamcatcher“. Schleppend, orchestral und bedrohlich fängt die Reise an. Quirlige Klänge und rotzige Gitarrensounds werden bei „Paranoia“ dargeboten. Stück Nummer 3 ist ein Bekanntes - der yelworC Hit „Soulhunter“ wurde einem Remake unterzogen und so ist auch dieser Klassiker auf dem neuen amGod Release vertreten. Hitverdächtig, packend und eingängig geht es mit „War Trap“ und „Blood On The Wall“ weiter. Hektisch und schnell wird es bei „Schuldig (Guilty)“ ehe es mit dem hypnotischen „Brap Talk“ einen schönen sphärischen Ruhepol zu finden gibt. Rockige Endzeitstimmung versprüht „My Love Is Gone“. Extrem flott und düster kommt „Crime!“ daher, wohingegen „Cultures“ mit schönen Tribalsounds aufwartet. „Rain From Heaven“ lässt nichts anbrennen und brettert als feinster Elektrocrossover aus den Boxen. Bei „I Am Innocent“ stehen die Gitarren seit weit im Vordergrund und man gibt zum Ende des Werks noch mal richtig Gas. Tolle Streichersounds und soundtrackartige Strukturen bieten im orchestralen Stück „The Guilty Have No Rights“ einen stimmigen Abschluss von „Harsh & Dirty“!
Wer es gerne noch etwas clubtauglicher möchte, dem sei die limitierte 3 CD Box empfohlen, welche noch die zusätzliche Remix-CD „Slaved & Deeply“ enthält. Hier sind neben amGod eigenen Versionen auch Remixes bekannter Acts wie Leaether Strip, Implant oder Brain Leisure zu hören!
Obwohl hier diverse Stile zum Besten gegeben wurden und Abwechslungsreichtum gross geschrieben ist, so klingt dennoch alles wie aus einem Guss. Perfekt umgesetzt von Mastermind und Kreativkopf Dominik van Reich! Dass amGod nach wie vor ein Meister der Elektronik ist, hat er mit dem aktuellen Werk „Dreamcatcher“ wieder sehr eindrucksvoll bewiesen! Ein tolles Comeback!

I aggree with electrohead that the Soulhunter 2010 has nothing to do with the Soulhounter 1993 version
