What the hell? Just so happened to stumble across news saying that Atari Teenage Riot are to reform, and are playing shows performing both old and new material!
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this to be honest. I mean I loved the band and all, but somehow it just feels kinda wrong... what with Carl Crack having been dead for years and Alec Empire having since moved on to trying to woo the Berlin hipster fraternity...

I dunno, what do you guys think?

Hi all,
[ cell 7 ] was discussed in this forum last year sometime, but now that RE:COGNITION is released i thought it worth bringing up again. Let me know what you all think....
It took some time to get all the official clearances etc for the REM cover so we started with a soft launch, but now we want to begin proper promotion. Any DJs or press who want a review copy please email nick[at]cell7[dot]com :o)
Anyway, part 2 of this topic is FiXT records: this is the label of Celldweller and they are pushing our tracks quite actively on their store - here is the link .
We are discussing a remix compilation release [NIN-style] which should also create some further interest. Im wondering if anyone else on this forum has their music through FiXT? We are seeing more sales through there than on iTunes and Amazon at the moment so i would definitely recommend it.

Okay, back in the day I remember seeing something on TV about how CDs were going to become copy protected or something, meaning that people couldn't rip or copy CDs. And then I remember someone telling me that this could be bypassed by drawing on the CD with a black marker.

I've forgotten major details, but is this to say that there are some CDs from circa 2000 & whatever floating around that don't rip to files easily? And furthermore, what kind of technology can be bypassed using a texter?

sorry, just had one of those flashbacks to a particular moment in my past, and I need answers. I'm sure a couple of you veterans know something about this.

took me 12 years, to collect these diamonds. I spent hours, days, weeks and months collecting long forgotten treasures and polish them. now they sound all brandnew, I mean
truly oldschool, dark and ... damn. I always forget, how to promote myself.
okay, bash me, kill me with words, make me want leave this place and never come back.
well, maybe some care.
I made a new Architect Record. It should be out via Hymen soon. Expect the same shit, the same lame excuse of Frickelkacke. I love my Record, so "Pfff" to all the Naysayers.

What I want to do.... I learned that Ableton Live 8 can be run as either ReWire Master or Slave...and unfortunately it lacks some polyphonic aftertouch which is needed for for instance wordbuilder in the Eastwest choir libs...fortunately I seem to have won a Steinberg audio Interface with Cubase 5 AI bundled (well at least that's what Sonic Seducer says *G*)
and I want to run (if possible) now Cubase 5 as ReWire Slave to cope up the missing features in Ableton...

has anyone already tried something like that?

Following an EP named "Trail Effect", Cellmod has just released a full-length album "Adevolve", available digitally through Sector 9 Studios (label run by Negative Format).

This album is really incredible. It's like a mixture of progressive trance, a bit of industrial and noise (but not enough to make it unplayable at more commercial parties), some psytrance elements and even a bit of 8-bit chip-sounds on there. The tracks, while primarily fitting in the trance-field, are filled with hooks and I'm really blown away by the overall production and execution.

I really cannot recommend this album highly enough, especially to DJs.

You can preview and purchase the album here:
http://s9sonline.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&cPath=1_8&products_id=42&zenid=d08846388dd8454154177f64ce6e6f97

It's also available from iTunes, eMusic, Amazon, etc, etc.

It's been 5 years since the release of "The Failure Epiphany", and over 2 years since the release of the Sacrament/Absolution EPs. Since then, there's been a full length release of my Stray project, but it's time this album gets released. I've nitpicked it to death, spent an incredible amount of time producing this work.

3 CDs full of new music, remixes, and some awesome stuff in the limited edition :)

The sound of Unter Null has changed drastically, and I've approached my production of this album with a fresh pair of ears and an open mind. I hope others will as well.

Ornox on "Need some help modding a MIDI controller"

I previously said how I was interested in buy a keytar with a "rock" vibe to it instead of a synthpop one. And then you all indicated that such a thing doesn't exist and we spoke little of it after that.

Anyway, I'm still eager to achieve that sort of thing, so my next crazy plan is to have my little two octave MIDI controller converted into a keytar that suits my intended style.

I'm looking to have the main features of the MIDI controller taken out of its plastic encasing and then housed in a wooden body, possibly with a Hammond organ sort of vibe, and then a guitar or bass neck attached to the top of it give it the keytar feel. All of this lefthanded naturally.

The little problem with this is that I don't have the slightest clue about how to do any of this sort of thing. I don't know what sort of peices I'd need, what sort of proffesional I'd have to talk to, or what sort of money I'd have to pay.

You all seem to know this, that or the other about making things work for you, does anyone have any info on this type of jazz?

just to refresh your memories, i want a mix of this http://www.terragalleria.com/images/us-ca/usca30630.jpeg and this http://www.citilink.com/~steveby/bolan.jpg

Spiralchords on "WE GOT THIS FAR - "Blunt Force Volume""

"Blunt Force Volume", the debut album by California's industrial rock band WE GOT THIS FAR will be released in North America on October 13th, 2009 and in Europe on August 21st, 2009 through Spiralchords Records, subdivision of COP International.

WE GOT THIS FAR were founded in 2007 by Ollie Marsh and Jason Silva after meeting in 2006 while being live musicians for San Francisco based group Stormdrain. They eventually found out they vibed with each other musically and on a personal basis and started working on songs.
WE GOT THIS FAR already has received acclaim with its debut 12" vinyl single, "Bludgeon" (2008) and live appearances with acts like 16Volt, Cyanotic, Dismantled, Deathline International, Dawn Of Ashes, Mankind Is Obsolete and others.

August 21st, 2009 (Europe) and October 13th, 2009 (North America) will see their official debut album „Blunt Force Volume“. Recorded and produced by the band at Fang Studios in San Mateo, 453 in San Jose and Littlegrey II in San Francisco and mastered by Tom Baker (Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Orgy, Static X), the album offers a thrilling menu between juicy riffs and crunchy synths, at times heavy hitting and merciless, at times melancholic and thoughful, accompanied by Ollie's distinctive vocals.

Not only musically the band offers a rollercoaster of emotions - the lyrics are inspired by the end of love.
Jason Silva comments: „I hated the expiriences that inspired these songs, no one should go through them ... but we all do, it's human, it's painful, and it's with us all. There was so much risk in building Blunt Force Volume, it's so expressionally nude that it can be almost too personal ... too revealing. But I'm proud of that, because it is "real", proud to reach into the emotional flesh and pour everything meaningful onto a table and let it take shape song by song, lyric by lyric.“

"Blunt Force Volume" will be released as digipak version and contain nine tracks plus a remix by Gary Zon (Dismantled).
The album will also be available as digital release through iTunes, Amazon and various other online outlets.

Teaser songs can be found here:
www.wegotthisfar.com

a live stutter?

as in, you've got a track playing with this effect on it and you set the duration and the press some kind of "engage" and it will loop for your set duration from the exact point you pressed "engage", and lasts as long as the "engage" is being pressed, and then when you let go it will go back to the track but where the track duration is up to rather than where you engaged.

I'm absolutely shite at explaining things today, but do you get what I mean? Where you can stutter the track rhythmically, like reeditting the song live. I think it would be a great live or dj effect.

infact, i daresay it would be a big part of my live show to "liven up" the pre recorded tracks.

All pads I do sound the same and are very "synthetic" or too basic.

WHat tips can you guys give to create atmospheric pads like those used by Tangerine Dream and Brian Eno?

They say it's all about the filters and amp envelopes but fiddling with those is not helping

Any ideas?
