This flyer is humbling, seeing as how we're the last ones mentioned. And I don't know why they put a space in our name. But either way, looking forward to playing and seeing some other great bands.

This week: Hello! This week we feature the brand new live CD + DVD
from Icelandic pop-superstar Björk! It seems no matter what your
usual cup of tea...goth, rock, industrial, metal, noise,
ambient...Björk is on everyone's fave list. Perhaps it's because she
rules? The new Voltaic release is seen as an extension of the last
album Volta while presenting a wide assortment of live tracks
performed in London (on the CD) and in Paris and Reykjavik (on the
DVD). This is a seriously significant release from one of the world's
top artists. Next up: Eisbrecher. If you like electronics with a dose
of guitars, gothic music with a dose of metal, Eisbrecher is going to
be your thing. The band releases several versions of their new album
Eiszeit this Spring, including a highly limited CD + DVD version which
is sure to sell out on pre-order. There is also an exclusive single
featuring a remix by SITD, perfect for the dancefloors! And since
we're really on the goth-metal tip this week (what with Omega Lithium
and Haggard CDs now shipping!), we REJOICE in the new best of release
from one of the best bands that have ever stepped up to the goth-metal
mic: OOMPH! Truth or Dare features 16 tracks and includes a
collaboration with Within Temptation. The album is presented by one of
the best of labels: The End out of New York, the same who have brought
us Emilie Autumn, The 69 Eyes, Nadja, Mindless Self Indulgence and
more!! A classic returns: Templebeat releases an album this Spring on
Rustblade. Modern English (yes, Modern English!!) release their 7th
album to date. Sigsaly gives us two new releases: Portion Control
drops Violently alive while Void Kampf make their North American debut
with Severe Mais Juste. Blood Axis is back with a medieval harvest of
Old English and Middle High German lyrics of tender yet brutal musical
poetry. More goth-metal!! Lacrimosa comes back with a double-CD to
celebrate their incredible 20 year anniversary. Features 15 unreleased
gems plus two new songs! RevCo is back with another album of
industrial-hardrock mayhem. Features probably the nastiest cover art
we've ever seen! And last but not least, our friends at Roadrunner
release the new album from LA rockers Ratt! It's time to let your hair
down and get infested!!!

Catch us on Twitter! www.twitter.com/stormingthebase ! Read on...

BJÖRK - LIVE in Paris & Reykjavik CD +DVD special!!

BJORK "VOLTAIC - CD+DVD SPECIAL EDITION"
Björk announces a very special DVD/CD recording, Voltaic, to be
released in Canada by Nonesuch Records/Warner Music Canada on March
30, 2010. Voltaic is a lovingly packaged celebration of two years of
Björk’s Volta activities—her critically praised sixth studio
album, which came out in 2007, and the subsequent two-year world tour.
Voltaic DVD contains filmed highlights from the Volta tour, recorded
in Paris and Reykjavik, with performances of songs from Volta as well
as tracks from previous albums including Hunter, Joga, Army of Me, and
Hyperballad.

Björk’s band on the Volta tour included Mark Bell (LFO) on
computers and keyboards and Damian Taylor on keyboards and
programming. Drums and percussion were played by Chris Corsano(Sonic
Youth, etc.); Jónas Sen played piano, harpsichord, and church organ;
and Björk’s all female Icelandic 10-piece brass section rounded out
the group. A dynamic, grand live experience, the Volta tour has been
acclaimed around the world. As the Guardian (UK) said in its five-star
review, “Björk delivers a performance as visually spectacular as it
is musically innovative. Fifteen years into her solo career Björk
remains the least compromising and most fantastical pop superstar
talent.” Voltaic CD is a selection of songs from the Volta tour
recorded live at the legendary Olympic Studios in London, just before
Björk’s headlining show at the Glastonbury Festival in 2007. It was
recorded in one afternoon, and the whole set was played live and
captured in one take before being produced and mixed by Björk.

Voltaic serves as a coda to Volta, an album about which NME said
“Volta is a thunderous return as enchanting as Debut,’’ while Q
described it as “the best album that Björk has done in a decade—a
reminder of what a vital force she is.” Ships March 30th, 2010.

TEMPLEBEAT "THE GREY ZONE"
Here at last, recovered from early 90's tape releases, we find eleven
unmissable tracks signed by the Cult band Templebeat, now collected
and remastered on CD. Eleven "gems" among which emerge timeless
fascinating tracks like "Human", "Drugs" and "Refuse It". An overdue
rescue for this band from Treviso that almost twenty years ago
conceived of electro-industrial / EBM music of a unique and inimitable
nature, pioneering a style in Italy contaminated with incredible
post-modern suggestions, sci-fi, horror, and pornographic visions. The
CD contains eight tracks originally published on the "Interzone" tape,
two tracks taken from the "Treviso Underground Vol. 3" compilation and
a DAF's "Der Mussolini" cover released on the "V.I.T.R.I.O.L.#3"

MODERN ENGLISH"SOUNDTRACK "
Darla Records is proud to offer the seventh album by iconic
post-punk/new wave pop craftsmen Modern English, best known for their
hit song“I Melt with You”. Their classic album After the Snow
(4AD: 1982) featured what became a radio/club mega-hit and MTV staple,
“I Melt with You”, which was used in the film Valley Girl, in more
than one TV advertisement and became the flagship track on the popular
Nouvelle Vague covers album. Now as then, Modern English is smart,
modern pop, firmly rooted in post-punk yet undeniably Beatle-esque.
Described by Robbie Grey as, “Some real music for real people with
real emotions”, Soundtrack marks the convincing return of a band
with a solidly recognizable, signature sound and pop sensibility. The
songs ranging from the uplifting, jangle-pop with infectious,
sing-along chorus and dance-able beat of “It’s Ok”, the
record’s obvious single, and the equally inspired “Blister”
and“Up Here in the Brain”, to dark, downtempo grooves with somber
keyboard washes in which Grey sings of never-far-off blackness and
suicide, “Soundtrack”, “Bomb”, “The Lowdown”, are all
characteristically introspective and consistent with Modern
English’s best work. Released on Darla and available May 24th, 2010.

PORTION CONTROL "VIOLENTLY ALIVE"
Portion Control are a British electronic and industrial band formed in
London in 1980. The band calls its music style electropunk or hard
rhythmic electronics. They are one of the most famous obscure
electronic music acts in the world and have been honoured and name
checked by the likes of Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, Front Line
Assembly, NiN & Orbital. After the successful release of CROP in 2009,
the men return this year with all new material and shows that Portion
Control is still breaking new ground and opening new doors in
electronic music. Violently Alive blends some of the more traditional
sounds with the new more aggressive dance style. Released on Sigsaly
and available April 9th, 2010.

VOID KAMPF "SEVERE MAIS JUSTE"
The French & Belgian EBM communities are quite tight and tend to stick
to the "roots" of the Electronic Body Music sound. France’s Void
Kampf does exactly that, and keeps the "Body" in EBM, as any fan that
attended a live performance can attest to. In February 2010, Void
Kampf releases powerful sound on the world with the album, Severe Mais
Juste. The album contains 14 original tracks, 6 remixes. Guest
re-mixers include; Signal Aout 42, Darkmen, Steril, Autodafeh,
&K-Bereit. Over an hour of music, this album is sure to hit the dance
floors hard with their clean, well produced electronics and aggressive
vocals and a Void Kampf attitude. Released on Sigsaly and availabel

BLOOD AXIS"BORN AGAIN"
Coming in a super deluxe & stunning foilblocked 3panel ecopak with 24
page booklet. There will be at least one resurrection on Easter
Sunday, 2010, when Blood Axis unveils its latest work, Born Again. The
second full-length studio album in the group's twenty-year history,
Born Again signals startling developments and a radical maturation.
Old vines have been cut back and carefully tended in order to bear
strange new fruit. Over the course of the twelve tracks that comprise
Born Again, Blood Axis explores an epic yet human universe in which
gods are summoned, kingdoms rise, riddles are unlocked, love is lost,
and worlds crumble. This is psychedelia in the literal sense: a
"mind-manifesting" journey through the collective psyche of its
creators. Born Again weaves a web of potent pleasures. Whereas the
earliest Blood Axis music was marked by keyboards and samples, Blood
Axis in 2010 is stripped down to an essential core of natural
instrumentation, but with force and bombast fully intact. The sonic
ingredients on Born Again include electric and acoustic strings
(guitar, violin, bass, bouzouki, banjo), melodeon, piano, highland
bagpipes and Galician gaita, marching percussion, the mysterious
Annabel-a-tron, and Bobby BeauSoleil's growling, prison-vintage guitar
eruptions circa 1976. Underpinning the album and propelling much of
the music is the traditional Irish drum the bodhrán, recorded here
with unprecedented power. Moynihan's ominous voice is well matched by
Annabel Lee's elfin intonations, just as her violin finds a perfect
counterpoint in Robert Ferbrache's protean guitar parts. A selective
cabal of guest musicians from Europe and the USA add tasteful
embellishments to these deceptively simple arrangements. Shot through
by myth and romance, the expressive lyrics on Born Again have their
roots in ancient and modern poetry, archaic invocations, and tragic
laments. Alongside modern English and German, songs are sung in
medieval 10th-century Old English and 13th-century Middle High German.
The end result is both unclassifiable and unforgettable: neither folk
nor rock, traditional nor avant-garde, modern nor archaic. It is
simply Blood Axis. Released on Storm and available April 30th, 2010.

LACRIMOSA "SCHATTENSPIEL"
After 10 studio- and 2 live-albums and more than 100 songs for the
20th jubilee it would have been more than expectable to release a best
of album but instead of that LACRIMOSA surprises with the double
album„Schattenspiel“ (= shadow play) on which they present 15
unreleased recordings from the past 20 years for the first time to
their audience. And as if this wouldn’t be enough, they added two
brand new songs, which were composed just for this new release.
Reaching a 20 years jubilee is surely not ordinary. And when you keep
in mind this jubilee becomes even more extraordinary because in all
these years LACRIMOSA never signed a deal with a major record company
depite a huge commercial success with Top 10 positions in the charts
of various countries. The artistic freedom has always been the top
priority for the band. Next to their cultural success several artists
from rock, pop and classical music name LACRIMOSA as their source of
inspiration. Thus the duo of the German Tilo Wolff and Finnish Anne
Nurmi became the co-founders of music styles like Symphonic-Rock and
Gothic-Metal and belong to the most important alternative music groups
worldwide. So this is now the anniversary album for the 20th jubilee
of this band. „Schattenspiel“ starts with the presentation of the
first and so far unheard musical steps from the year 1990. Then they
open their private archive with exclusive recordings from the
following years and end their journey with the latest productions that
can be currently heard from them. And what are we going to hear? I
have to admit, rather exceptional recordings! Who would have thought
that the band which is after all known as a rock band began their
career with pure electro numbers like „Schuld und Sühne“ and
„Seelenübertritt“ (both 1990)? And when one knows the more
abundant arrangements of the last years albums songs like „Morgen“
(2003) and „Déjà vu“ (2007) have nearby a minimalist character,
although the latter one aroused my special interest through its
emotional enthusiasm. The original version of „Schakal“ (1994)
surprised me completely! The song officially released in the same year
is known as one of the first Gothic-Metal songs ever though this
version doesn’t sound like it at all! The classical elements and the
bombastic intention can be divined though the guitars seem inspired by
punk ock while the drums have electronic roots! This combination
surely needs getting used to but exactly this makes it pretty
charming. So this is very much a shadow play just like „Mantiquor“
(2005): on one hand you hear the clear relatedness to classics like
„Ich bin der brennende Komet“ or „Kelch der Liebe“ but still
it has a note that is rather pleasant and therefore strange.
Especially worth mentioning are the new titles „Sellador“ and
„Ohne Dich ist alles nichts“ which are the most opposite to each
other. While the first one is reviving the band’s electronic roots
and combining these with classical and rock elements, „Ohne Dich ist
alles nichts“ comes with all the strong and large emotions in a
first-class musical and handcraft quality like we know this polemical
but always consistent band. After all „Schattenspiel“ is an
informative and touching double-album which impresses with its courage
of being no best of album but an intimate view in a fascinating
musical world which can not be compared. Released on Hall of Sermon
and available May 7th, 2010.

MiXXX-O, The Revolting Cocks are back - bigger, thicker and nastier
than ever! Throughout the Fall of 2009, RevCo scoured the States and
Canada converting and perverting young and old, rich and poor, male,
female and transgender to their signature raunchy sound and outrageous
three-ring circus performances. Over fifty minutes of non-stop
continuous Cock packs RevCo’s newest release - Got Cock? Produced by
Horny” and “Dykes,” drive too fast through the mall parking lot

RATT"INFESTATION"
Ratt helped pioneer Hollywood legendary Sunset Strip sound and scene.
The band has returned sounding fired up and better than ever. Ratt’s
first studio album in 11 years, Infestation, is a return to their
heavy, riff-driven roots. The band has reinvented their sound by
rediscovering their strengths, shutting listeners to a time when metal
ruled the earth and real musicians wore eyeliner like a badge of
honor. “We wanted this to be like something that we would have
written right after (1984’s) Out Of the Cellar,” says vocalist
Stephen Pearcy. “We definitely went back to basics with the mindset
of a band with a lot of excitement and some great songs to get out.”
Released on Roadrunner and available April 20th, 2010.

***** new from ARTOFFACT RECORDS!

OMEGA LITHIUM "DREAMS IN FORMALINE" -

Omega Lithium is a new goth-metal band from Croatia that has made
waves in the underground metal scene. The band’s figurehead is
19-year-old vocalist Mya Mortenssen, whose looks are on a par with her
powerful and surprisingly deep voice. Along with Mya, guitarist Malice
Rime, bassist Zoltan Harpax and drummer Torsten Nihill have created a
powerfully sinister sound which brings to mind the atmospheric goth
metal of acts such as Lacuna Coil and Evanescence. Omega Lithium
combine cutting metal riffs, rock elements, electro beats,
machine-like coolness and haunting atmosphere at the interface of
industrial, goth and metal. Music fans will be hooked on
“Stigmata” which has true hit potential and is supported by a
darkly morbid video with Tim Burton references. Released on Artoffact
and available April 6th, 2010.

"Tim Burton-influenced goth-metal produced by Victor Love for fans of
Lacuna Coil and Evanescence!"

"This debut provides an excellent mix of industrial, gothic and metal.

a live stutter?

as in, you've got a track playing with this effect on it and you set the duration and the press some kind of "engage" and it will loop for your set duration from the exact point you pressed "engage", and lasts as long as the "engage" is being pressed, and then when you let go it will go back to the track but where the track duration is up to rather than where you engaged.

I'm absolutely shite at explaining things today, but do you get what I mean? Where you can stutter the track rhythmically, like reeditting the song live. I think it would be a great live or dj effect.

infact, i daresay it would be a big part of my live show to "liven up" the pre recorded tracks.

all comments are encouraged. i'm not trying to get paid or played. this is fun for me but i do wish to continually improve. so tell me what you like, what you don't, you don't even have to explain why but it makes it more interesting if you do.

so here's the newest thing i just did.
probably took about 5 hours. way more time intensive than i thought.

I have heard various musicians trying to Dj and they are pretty horrible. I have heard some pretty famous artist try to Dj and it is apparent that they have no idea what is going on in the club scene or they have just bad music taste.

Anyone pick this up yet? The samples sound really good and I bought their ep on DSBP a few years ago.

I pre-ordered it and as a bonus I got 5 unreleased songs, 2 remix kits, a bunch of wallpaper and a digital booklet. THATS how you reward your fans for buying your releases.

Ok here's a question.

I'm wondering how some bands play their backing tracks. I know most of us probably use a laptop onstage and play from it, but there are bands that have no laptop anywhere. Question is. What to use to play backing tracks... and if you play with a drummer, how to send a click sound to him :/

So this viral marketing thingie is making its way around the interwebs. Apparently someone opened an anonymous Twitter account at http://twitter.com/iamamiwhoami and began tweeting images and videos with the message #sheiscoming.

Videos below. I know it's pop, but I'm kinda digging the dark industrial tinge and the creepy visuals. Most people think it's promotion for Christina Aguilera's next album, which would be disappointing because I can't stand her. That said, her new album is going to have several tracks produced by Ladytron. Wasn't expecting that.

ok, this is neither industrial nor electronic... But some of you probably enjoy the This Mortal Coil version of his song Kangaroo ; and well, the album with Alan Vega is somewhat electronic in its way...
