I place a curse on whichever light-fingered EBM maniac in the global postal system is intercepting my packages: I've managed to not receive my pre-ordered copy of "Violently Alive", as well as Cryo's "Hidden Aggression". Sux. Big. Time.

On the lighter side, I bought the downloadable versions of both. I agree with the Pro-PorCon comments above - this sh*t really rocks!!!

There is lots on the new Portion Control i can dj. "Extraction" has CLUB HIT written all over it, and there is more goodyness on the album for dancefloors. If more DJ's pick this up it might not be dinosaurfood after all.

I´m not too sure if the album is "long awaited" but I must say that I really like the new album! It has this very old sound! I would compare it to nice, smooth, electronic Front 242 in a very good way. Great job but I doubt that it will not really be easy to sell the album to "normal" customers... but of course to all of us dinosaurs :-)

"digipack" is a very nice word for the folded cardboard that makes out the cover of this release. It's barely even visible on my CD shelf. :)
Where do you live exactly? The CDs were sent out ages ago.

Anyone else south of the Equator received their pre-ordered digipack yet? I'm sitting here in Sydney and there's still no sign of it.... had to grab some samples from the CDbaby site to satisfy my cravings whilst waiting for the real deal to arrive....

>> I think the album is EBM heavy but I'm really in the mood for that right now.

me too!!

>> However, I think that there is enough diversity on the album. Icon is the weakest track but that doesn't mean it's bad. As far as the Suicide Commando comparison; I'm not really a suicide commando fan and I like Icon.

ditto!!

>> I think Icon has a funk to it that Suicide Commando doesn't.

seconded!

>> The vocals are some of the most soulful in industrial ebm.

well said! i agree!

>> Every one of their albums has a theme to it. EBM is focus and theme for this one but I contend that it's not just EBM. Their dubby tracks are there too.

absolutely!

i think this album is PURE GENIUS! it has everything i love about angry, aggressive, gritty industrial electronics - in fact i would categorize them also as electronic punk. every album they've put out in the last several years is an instant all-time favorite of mine. these guys are at the TOP of their game, and they are now without a doubt my favorite electronic artists, period.

for me, there have been a few releases lately that have gotten me really fucking EXCITED again about industrial/ebm - PorCon - Violently Alive, NTRSN - People Like Gods, and Unit:187 - Out for Blood (coming in June on Vendetta Music! - wait 'til you hear this one, it kicks SO MUCH ass!!).

I think the album is EBM heavy but I'm really in the mood for that right now. So, my opinion is a bit tainted.

However, I think that there is enough diversity on the album. Icon is the weakest track but that doesn't mean it's bad. As far as the Suicide Commando comparison; I'm not really a suicide commando fan and I like Icon.

I think Icon has a funk to it that Suicide Commando doesn't.

Guided by my Fear reminds me of Godflesh; it's dingy and hard. I love it.

The vocals are some of the most soulful in industrial ebm.

Waste is very funky like older FLA. Another one of my favs.

Every one of their albums has a theme to it. EBM is focus and theme for this one but I contend that it's not just EBM. Their dubby tracks are there too.

More in the next post....I'm at work.
