Hey guys,
Doing a little cleaning up in my studio I found quite a few same loops I'd made that I hadn't used and thought I'd offer them as a free download.
http://digitalgeist.com/you-like-free-things-right/
This first sample pack is 363mb, 75 loops all with the root note of C at 140bpm, and you can use them however you want.

I am also a cubase user...have been for about 10 years now.

currently i'm running cubase 4, and really need to upgrade to 6 (which also means i need to finally upgrade my osx from leopard to at least snow leopard, which i've been putting off forever)....i'm always really nervous to upgrade os and daw. anyone else make that jump from 4 to 6? was it painless?

when i upgraded from the last sx to 4 i had some real headaches, especially with certain built in vsts i always used being gone.

I've got good hardware reverbs, delays, and OD but nothing for spatial/imaging. The steinberg ones are kinda meh. Also a good bit reduction/cruncher would rule.

Oh, I forgot the original K2000 did not come sample ready. We had a K2vx that was ready and expanded to hell out of the box. No, you have to get the upgrade, otherwise it was just a really awesome synth. :P

I never bothered with the CDrom sample libraries. We always made our own samples with audio in, or imported 3.5 discs from the AKAI samplers. Kurz would read the AKAI discs as long as they were initially formatted by the AKAI. Then we stored everything on ZIP discs via the SCSI.

Really? I never had any problems. We used to sample stuff onto the AKAI and then import it to the K2vx. Never had any issues. Is this for importing from other formats?

The thing with the Kurzweils is the menus are the devil. Thier sequencing wa convoluted as well. Powerful, but difficult to figure out, and pretty quirky. But you can quite literally do whatever the hell you want to the samples. Unheard of complex algorithms and modulation patching. With computers now, this is no big deal. Back in the day though..damn. EMAX, Ensoniq, and AKAI, had nothing on Kurzweil.

@aphxero-if you are lost in this discussion, google "mono no aware".

As for effects VST within Cubase. I use TC Electronics, GRM Tools, TOGU Audio Line effects, Camel Audio, Valhalla DSP. Ask more specific questions. Are you looking for dynamic effects, special effects? I think we have a whole thread about distorting the hell out of everything :D

@soilodge the only reason i would stay off kurzweils is that from what i've heard, they are a bitch to import samples, there's something with registering them, don't know enough, but that is some awsum' engine.

@amiles harass them, tell them you will go on all forums, fb, twitter, blogs with this... that usually does the trick, it is cheaper sometimes for them to reimburse you with a bit of + than to lose that hard earned street cred with white middle class prepubescent kanyes
