Good afternoon,

It's been pretty quiet on my part since the release of the Unter Null album Moving On, but time was spent wrapping up the second STRAY album, and now it's done.

If you're not familiar with the project, it's kind of the necessary weight to balance out Unter Null. It's a lot lighter. I'm really happy with how this album has turned out. There's a ton of good remixes going on the second disc including mixes from GRENDEL, E.S.A., iVardensphere, and several other great artists who did some amazing interpretations.

Lengthy note aside, here are some clips from the upcoming album, which will be out shortly on Alfa Matrix.

http://soundcloud.com/stray_official/sets/stray-letting-go-samples-1

Enjoy =)

"This spring comes ..." - is the debut EP of the electro-industrial project "REIZ". The tracks were joined in a small single just to understand whether the right direction has been chosen for creativity, and listen som opinions from the listeneres and colleagues.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT THERE:
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/VZXAH8CF/REIZ_-____________________________________(EP__320).rar_links

… The EP included three tracks:
01. "This spring comes ..."
The title track for the single. The theme of this song is the irresistible sizzling heat and a "vanilla" relationships of men and women. Subject jaded enough, so there is no sense to pay more attention to the content of a track.
Invited musicians: Max 'MindFreak' Perunov (guitar)

02. "Hakenkreuz"
Hakenkreuz in German is "swastika." Lyrics written by Alexander Ishutin, vocalist and founder of the legendary project "Nord'n'Commander".
Here is what he said about this track:
"The swastika - a symbol of the universe. Center of the swastika - is an absolute constant and rotating ends is a world of change. Person belongs to these two worlds at once.
When thoughts run away and smeared on the surrounding objects, but every nerve in the church body craves perfection ...
When someone's blood and milk make one's point of excitation, but there is an ecstatic desire for absolute silence ...
Then comes the clear understanding that each of us is the law of eternal return, which means that swastika lives in each of us . Hakenkreuz! "
Invited musicians: Alexander Ishutin (text, second vocals)

03. "Hakenkreuz (nosense remix)"
The remix by Moscow tech-house/dubstep project Nosense, founded by Vovan, our old friend and the member of the Moscow industrial nu metal band "All For Fake".

I know I'm new around here, but I wanted to start off with a bang. I was asked to be part of this "Teaser Video" for a band called Deconbrio to promote their new album. I googled them, found an article here on Side-Line that they had done a Ghostbusters cover (that I guess isn't available anymore?). Anyway, that opened me up to more Electronic and Industrial music.

So, I've been reading around the Side-Line site, but I don't much do forums. I'm trying to actually get more into the music and figured I'd join the forum and see what I could find. I actually really like Deconbrio's sound, and kind of wanted to see if anyone had some suggestions on similar music.

Long story is long, but here's a page where you can see my video and check out some of the music from Deconbrio. The album is called Voyeur and my Video is titled Misbehave.
mechapop on "New Synthpop, Goth & Industrial Is Coming From Elsewhere"

...as traditional goth/dark wave died in the late 90's, and the second and third wave synthpop has faded from memory into the industrial scene ghetto.

So like many of you, Ive been a long time fan of first wave synthpop(I guess 80's, depeche mode, yazoo, erasure, alphaville), second wave(early 90's like Beloved, Waterlilies, Anything Box, Camoflage, Cause and Effect, etc), and third wave like
Mesh, Wolfsheim, De/vision, Beborn Beton, and a lot of Different Drum stuff.
(I guess futurepop would go more in the EBM category)

Least in North America, that stuff is all dead. Not sure if there is still a crowd for it in Europe, assuming there is...but it feels like any synthpop attached even remotely to goth/industrial labels is dead.

Yet...when I check out Pitchfork, Stereogum, youtube or any other blogs/sites/etc
new synthpop is a big thing now. Be it bands that just started last week, or acts like Cut Copy and Miami Horror from Australia. (Also home to The Presets, Polygon Palace, etc) YACHT, Cut Copy, and a zillion electro synthpop dance acts play all the festivals and have a lot of buzz. And lately on Pitchfork and elsewhere I see front page hype for gothish synthpop YOU KNOW would be stuck in the small pond of the goth-industrial scene had they hit in the 1998-2005 time period.

Is it just the timing? Has the massive "indie" audience finally embraced what we've been into all this time?

One of the darkest acts, echoing old :W: , GGFH, coil, etc has got to be AIMON, who's been getting a lot of buzz in the indie world.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1omv2XG7iI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrrO7MKVrQU&feature=related
as well as stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3cpuUybIyY&feature=related

Remember goth music?

White Ring(darker than most the stuff i hear at modern goth clubs)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7XJHiLSKKk

And on the synthpop front...

Several new underground synthpop acts being hyped...

a band who headlined a fest i was at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz-ZI6wy83U

Just not sure why Im hearing about all the new(and largely unsigned) underground
goth/synthpop/industrial(as in pre 00ntz industrial) music is coming from "hipster" sites.

Wasnt industrial suppose to be unnerving, dark, experimental or goth and synthpop new and innovative or artsy?

Hi everyone. I'll be posting updates to my site in this thread. The new site just recently launched in February. Check it out at http://www.existest.org Here is a short manifesto on what it is all about:

Existence Establishment is a record label, a webzine, a D.I.Y. event organization and a distributor for noise/industrial/ambient/avant garde and any other kind of strange sounds. We focus on exploring the unconventional which leaves little room for more mainstream-oriented genres like metal, rock, punk, or any other countless forms of faceless expressions.

Existence Establishment aims to build a community for strange and dark music, sounds, art, and events by organizing like-minded artists both in the virtual realm and in the concrete world. We are first and foremost a community resource and not a commercial entity. We also aim to separate the abstract and experimental arts by encouraging quality works that have an aesthetic focus. Our goal is to become a formidable force of miscreants, artists, media terrorists, thought-provokers, and general ne’er do wells that will shape the aesthetic outlooks, thought processes, and lifestyles of people both within and without our D.I.Y. community.

Thoughts, compliments, technical issues, complaints, death threats and tales of poetic justice will receive a prompt reply if sent to the president of Existence Establishment by email at egan@existest.org

Those with far more lofty ambitions can send recorded material either as a candidate for review by one of our many selfless comrades or as a candidate for release on the Existence Establishment label to our headquarters where it will be quantified, processed, and evaluated by our office of investigations.

I haven't heard any yet, but I see their name mentioned alot.

Witchhouse / Gothster sort of stuff I assume? Should I take a listen?

I thought they were worth their own thread because they seem like one of the few bands crossing over from the indie scene that a many Sideliners are embracing. Previously SL seems to be aggressively mixed when it comes to these groups. A positive sign? I think so.

Anyway, I'll have a listen and report back.

so Object has been one of my favorite projects since i first heard Part Time Paranoia.

there is something about his approach to music that is very unique. its hard to describe. when listening to Object's music i'm constantly blown away by the amount of work that must go into each and every song.

many, many, many of the top musicians in this genre write great songs but they all seem very formulaic, built the way other electronic musicians have been building songs for decades with some hooks, melodies, noise, chaos, etc, etc each in their respective place and most often repeated.

this formulaic approach that repeats itself is no where evident in any of Object's material. 1 single object song.. if broken down into its component parts could probably be expanded into several entire songs. i mean.. there will be a point in a track where a killer synth line is played.. and its only played once. im talking about synths lines so good they could easily be looped and created gargantuan chunks of a new song entirely.

i really enjoy the complexity of the songs. 8 years later and i still find something new to appreciate in that first album i bought. there are so many layers of sound, expertly crafted and placed, where each has its on light and hue, co-mingling with the other sounds while not being diminished itself, nor taking away from the other aural presences.

one of my biggest gripes about electronic music is how percussion seems to take a backseat. so many talented musicians can write some killer synth tracks... but then they haven't the slightest idea how to put drums to it. this is why so many projects all sound the same and just thump along with a repeated kick, hat, snare pattern that simply gives the song a pulse, albeit a very weak one, from an atrophied heart.

thankfully, Object's percussion programming is fucking stellar, especially on his last album The Ethane Asylum. with every album you can see a clear progression, a growing and expounding upon of ideas while maintaining that distinct sound that is Object.

another one of my favorite things about Object is the spectrum of the project. there are many projects i like where tracks within the album and even album to album are very similar. Object is all over the place, bring in elements you didn't even know existed and placing them in exactly the right spot, in the right order, at the right magnitude.

the entire scope of Object's aural universe demands your attention.

if you haven't heard any of Object's music before.. do yourself a favor.

Dear friends/valued customers,

I'm glad to inform you that "Old School Electrology" 4-cd box-set is FINALLY coming out on September 29th. My valued Cop International colleague Breda (a big THANK YOU to my friend) will send out copies to customers, bands & select ezines/print magazines shortly afterwards (i.e one month before the official release date via Alive AG). Thank you all again for your unwavering support, touching words of encouragement & commendable patience. This mammoth project wouldn't have been possible without you!

The huge delay has enabled me to fully concretize my vision for Old School Electrology. I can say with absolute certainty that the box-set will surpass all of your expectations. Simply put, it's a dream old school fan's box executed with top-notch precision and a high standard of quality. The official release date (via Alive AG) will be posted on EAR's official website in early October (Michael is working hard on it).

Cheers
