Oh I just saw Sonoio, he opened for Ladytron in San Francisco a few months ago. Yeah it's pretty cool stuff. I mostly lean toward electronic type stuff so I dig it.
What sort of music stuff do you do?

Anyways if you name some bands you love or have recently discovered, I can show ya a ton of similar bands

Hey everyone, I see there is already a post on Deconbrio here but that is getting a bit off track so I thought I would make an official post about this upcoming release. Deconbrio's Voyeur is the first release on Bit Riot Records in over a year so we are really excited to get this to the people!

Releasing on 2-12-12, Deconbrio's Voyeur is a really cool record. It isn't ground breaking, or particularly music forward - it's just good. The record is a concept type of record that tells a tale of a man who becomes obsessed with a woman and the dark voyeuristic trail this leads to. As eluded to in the last thread, there is also some examination of the sexual dynamics that can result from these sorts of situations.

But really, setting all that cerebral stuff aside, this is just a really decent Industrial Rock record. I think it might appeal to fans of classic 90s industrial rock like NIN, Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills and 13mg as well as to fans of the coldwave genre. I know there hasn't been much Rock Industrial coming out lately (though, that last Unit 187 disc was SICK), so I hope there are some hungry fans of this genre that will give Voyeur a listen!

You can listen to samples of the record at the new Bit Riot Merch store here: Deconbrio - Voyeur @ FiXT.

And because I love sideline and have been a member here for going on 8 or 9 years, I am going to let you guys download a full track here before the official release: Deconbrio - The Scar.

Below I am going to link the purchase links for the Deconbrio - Voyeur Pre order as well as the 2 Teasers so far released in support of the album. Thanks for reading my thread and if this sounds like a record that may be up your alley, I encourage you to check it out!

GAH - I just wrote a whole post and my computer ate it.

@mechapop - I like a lot of that stuff, it reminds me of slightly of Postal service, some of it anyway. I have heard MGMT and Interpol, a friend used to listen to them when we'd hang out a few years ago.

My friend Danny from that sellout band in my other thread (=P) just sent me this which I reaaaallly like, Sonoio and I'm told the guy toured with Trent's set up for a few years?

Michael, The first video and the last video are the same video. I appreciate you supporting that other people have other tastes, and even if you do think some parts of ripped off, I mean, it's really hard to do anything that will sound completely original.

dsx - haha, well, if Trent isn't taking advantage of it then why not? (I'm kidding, I get they sound similar, but hell, I can't tell one rapper from the next or Christina from Britney) At least you *can* tell he's not Trent, I'm sure he could pull off a lot closer if he tried.

Rogue Process - It's cool. You watched, you didn't like it. I took it as you just formed an opinion without checking it out. So, I'm cool with you.

"The actual album is about how it's shit that people use sex to sell, and how that sets up dangerous expections and can even push people towards mindsets like "she wouldn't dress that way if she didn't want it" and "girls are sluts because they like to be sexy" and yeah, he gets that he's using sexy models, and the promo campaign is based on voyeurism. It's part of the story. By trying to call out the media, he fell into the trap. It's fucking art, music is fucking art. Expression.... but honestly, you can't even check out the rest of the music because you didn't get that it's a stab at how the world sells shit?"

What, so you promote your album about how terrible it is to use sex to sell by using sex to sell? WHAAAAAT? He fell into the trap? Never saw that one fucking coming, did we?

Dumbest shit ever. I get it. It's just that it's fucking retarded. Believe it or not, I watched the video. If you think that's 'classy', I despair.

I don't know. Deconbrio is not my thing really. All the elements of the music I do like are clearly ripped off from NIN. This would have been cool years ago when I was into stuff like Stabbing Westward or Machines of Loving Grace. Now it just sounds dated and pseudo aggressive.

Seriously, chill out. I'm not really naked. I was just fucking kidding. My humor doesn't translate well online in new places, I don't typically do forums for this reason.

I'm really, really, really fucking sick of such blatant and cynical attempts to titillate an audience for cheap publicity. It riles me the fuck up. It's trite, it's tacky, it's cheap, it's more than a tad misogynistic, and it's the same played out shit that mainstream media has been doing for years.
One reason I got into industrial music because it was a genre that catered to alternative mindsets and tastes, and at the time did not appear hellbent on perpetuating the same bullshit notion that people can be easily manipulated by images of overly sexualized women. In fact I'm pretty disinclined to check out Deconbrio now knowing they pulled such a cynical little stunt.

Hey guys,
Doing a little cleaning up in my studio I found quite a few same loops I'd made that I hadn't used and thought I'd offer them as a free download.
http://digitalgeist.com/you-like-free-things-right/
This first sample pack is 363mb, 75 loops all with the root note of C at 140bpm, and you can use them however you want.

I pre-ordered Mechanisms of Faith, and I can't wait to get it. It is early February now; so, I hope that the orders are abaout to be shipped out.

I think that all three of Object's CDs are awesome. There's not any filler in those three CDs. I do skip some of the instrumentals, but there's nothing wrong with them. It's just that I'd rather hear Object's vocals. As Michael said, Object is top notch complex, multilayered, electroindustrial music. There's so much going on in each song. Plus, other than the awesome music, I think that Anrea does a great job of creating very catchy and hookish vocals. They're quite melodious.

To follow up on silikonanswer's comment, I think that idieyoudie's review is the best review that I've read so far. It seems like he really went indepth to describe everything about the box set from the different sounds and moods of the music to the purpose behind Nader's intention to create such a box set to actually describing the box set itself.

Before I ever bought OSE, I had only CDs from five of the bands included in the box set. I own all of Haujobb's albums, the Nordschlacht/Pyrroline CDs, one yelworC CD (Trinity), the last two MCR1 CDs, and all three Object CDs. Other than those five bands, I had only heard of a few other bands, mainly from them being mentioned here at Side-Line, but not their music. So, to me, I was discovering many new bands.

After listening a lot to the box set, six bands whose music that I had never heard before stood out to me the most. I ended up gravtitating to Breathe, Brain Leisure, Splatter Squall, To Avoid, tri-state, and tEaR!down. So, I decided to buy these bands' CDs. So far, I bought Breathe's Laughing Dolls, Brain Leisure's Methods To Madness (I bought it for $5 at Vendetta's website, which is a great deal!), tri-state's Synopsis, and To Avoid's Voyage To The Past and Passion and Pain. I haven't been able to find any cheap Splatter Squall CDs, and I can't find tEaR!down's CD anywhere.

I haven't listened yet to To Avoid's Passion and Pain, but I'm really digging Brain Leisure's Method To Madness and To Avoid's Voyage To The Past. I love Dom's soft, almost whispered vocals, and the drum programming in his music is awesome. To Avoid's Voyage To The Past has so much intensity in its music, and MarC's vocals are rough but melodious. Plus, I like how he sings differenty in some of the songs. So, that keeps his voice fresh.

Also, tri-state's Synopsis really impresses me. It may not be as mature as the Brain Leaisure and To Avoid CDs, but Synopsis has some great choral samples, which remind me of many OMD songs. These choral samples layered with the rough vocals and dark music create quite a neat dichotic effect.

As for Breathe's Laughing Dolls CD, I enjoyed the music. However, I was hoping for more of the synthpopish feel like in Im Raum Der Zeit, but I understand that this CD was made a few years before Im Raum Der Zeit. I really enjoy Axel's soft, almost whispered sort of vocals, but I really didn't care for when he shouts in One Million Miles and in What Can Never Hurt Me. Both are really nice songs, and he does his regular singing in both songs. Yet, he starts to sing so loudly that it's like he's out of key. On the other hand, I do love the opening instrumental track, Tales. It reminds me of some of X-Fusion's movie score instrumentals, and I really love The Lauging Dolls, Fallen Angel, and So Far, which has a synthpop feel to it.

I really can't wait to get my hands on CDs by Splatter Squall and tEaR!down.

Other bands that I like on OSE are Venetian Blind (love the long intro for this song), BodyFarm (this song has some nice punch to it), God Experiment, One Eye Wanders (cool robotic vocals), Instans (cool robotic vocals, as well), Disharmony, deltaE, amGod (First time for me to hear amGod's music, and I was surprised to hear how different sounding it is from yelworC), Seven Trees, Terminal State, IC 434, etc.

Maybe the reason the three of us have such similar tastes/views on music is because of our long standing appreciation of Leonard Cohen.

I've been a fan for as long as I can remember. My step dad was a huge fan so some of my earliest memories are of driving around with him and hearing Leonard Cohen. I very clearly remember being no more than 7 or 8 and being in absolute awe hearing The Future.

I agree with what you said about Cohen vs Cash....Now I am also a big Cash fan, and would never want to downplay his legacy, but really Cohen is the king of darkness. He is also a true artist, one of the best poets and songwriters of the last hundred years while Cash was really more of a performer not much different from the pop stars of today simply playing other peoples songs. My step dad's father was an english teacher and was teaching Cohen's poetry in his classes 40 years ago.

As for him being frail, you shouldn't let it bother you. I saw him in concert a year or so ago and he really is still fantastic live. For his age it is really quite astounding just how good of a performer he still is. He doesn't deserve any pity in regards to his aging.

I like that you mentioned A Thousand Kisses Deep, as that is my favorite song from his latest works.

I really like that with each album his voice gets a little more gnarly and tortured. Comparing a song like Bird on a Wire, to a track like Darkness is really dramatic.

Now to further the Cohen love, but to also keep in line with the dark acoustic almost neo folk/industrial sound I present to you my favorite youtube video of all time, my favorite cover of all time, and probably one of my favorite recordings ever. Enjoy.
