Dead Hand Projekt – Control (CD Album - Vendetta Music)Posted on 14/12/13
Genre/Influences: EBM, cyber-metal.
Content: Three years after the self-titled debut-album Taury Goforth is back in action under the Dead Hand Projekt moniker launching his 2nd full length album. A few noticeable EP’s were released in between both albums.
“Control” features 12 songs mixing the raw EBM style of the American project together with harsher guitar assaults. The artist has always claimed to be inspired by some tough cyber-metal projects like NIN, Fear Factory, Marilyn Manson ao while some of the songs will definitely appeal for the fans of Combichrist.
Dead Hand Projekt gained in maturity and I have to say that the mix of EBM and guitars becomes quite alluring. “Control” is a powerful composition revealing multiple great songs. The dark EBM style makes it ultra danceable while the harsh metal guitars inject some extra adrenaline. Some of the tracks also remind me of the early years of Oomph!, which was one of the first pure EBM bands to mix electronics and guitar. “Scream 4 Daddy” is a brilliant song in the genre. The work is expressing an own sound approach, which sometimes has a little retro-touch (reminding me to the 90s). The fat guitar riffs perfectly carry the electro layers this album is made of. On top of it all you’ll hear the raw growls of Goforth.
The final part of the album reveals a few harder cuts like the merciless “The Problem” and the impressive final cut “Habit”. This last cut also reveals great guitar playing.
Conclusion: Dead Hand Projekt is gaining in experience and global maturity. This new work sounds like carried by heavier guitar parts, but remains a cool piece of EBM.
Best songs: “Scream 4 Daddy”, “Before You Go”, “Cut Throat”, “Habit”.
