Stefan Poiss and Markus Hadwiger are the creative duo behind MIAB. It’s not very often that a newcomer impressed me that much. I still can’t get enough of the “Lost alone”-cd that they already strive back with a 2nd full length. I was a bit afraid that it could have been an anticipated release, but the more you enter the universe of “Dreamweb”, the more MIAB confirms their potential. They remain a very single project, composing a hard to define sound. A multiple layer of influences are running through their work, moving from space synth-pop to EBM to techno to vague industrial ideas. “Dreamweb” sounds maybe a little bit more poppy than its predecessor, but this is miles away from the established and cliché pop standards. The sound is refreshing and progressive! The global production stands for maturity and knowledge while the songs are powerful, carrying and simply fascinating. MIAB takes care of every little detail, revealing a huge state of perfectionism! The vocal production for instance is once again close to perfection. I like the used effects and the duality running through the vocals while the global expression is spooky. The musical part is another aspect that deserves a detailed analysis. I can’t remember one single band in history that pushes electro-pop music into such a dimension of power and wafting atmospheres. The “Loyalty”-song reminds me a little bit to Neuroactive, which is another creative formation, but less characterized! MIAB are the alchemists of electro, assembling very different influences they that meticulously merged together. I can’t give you the entire tracklist, but my personal favorites are for sure “Sun and storm” (a potential new club hit), “Out of time”, “Dead end” and “Between worlds”. There’s such welfare in ideas running through this album that it’s hard to believe that this band doesn’t come from another planet! MIAB sounds like a revolution in electro-land! (DP:9)DP.
