V/A New Sonic Strategies (CD Album – Alrealon Musique)Posted on 27/09/13
Genre/Influences: Experimental, industrial, abstract-music, soundtrack.
Bands: Philippe Petit, John 3:16, Black Saturn, The JazzFakers, Rasplyn, Jurica Jelic, Kine, FluiD, ao.
Content: Alrealon Musique has been set as a release platform for experimental music and artists. “New Sonic Strategies” features 16 projects dealing with different forms of experimental music and reassembling several label bands like John 3:16 (one of the owners of the label), Philippe Petit, FluiD, PAS Musique, Black Saturn, The JazzFakers and [owt kri].
The universe of this sampler is moving in between cold and intriguing parts, pure experimentalism, a few more ambient & IDM experiments, total sound & noise manipulations, and ghost music ao. The diversity of the projects definitely is a quite interesting element, which makes the sampler more accessible. But Alrealon Musique will never be accessible to a wider audience. The abstract creations are for the real lovers in the genre.
Speaking for myself, I was seduced by the rather IDM-approach of Black Saturn featuring a rapper on vocals and The Use feat. Rachel Mason. The soundtrack-style of Rasplyn is another noticeable project. Kine is dealing with pure ghost music. A few more projects seem to like experimenting with guitar noises and I here have to mention Philippe Petit, ASVA & Philippe Petit and John 3:16.
Conclusion: Experimental music remains hard to grasp because of the very different forms each music genre has. Alrealon Musique presents a nice sound canvas from projects hailing from all over the world and composing a rather accessible experimental format.
Best bands: Black Saturn, The Use feat. Rachel Mason, Rasplyn, ASVA & Philippe Petit, John 3:16.
