Solitary Experiments – Trial And Error (CD EP – Out Of Line)Posted on 26/06/13
Genre/Influences: Synth-pop, body-pop.
Content: Solitary Experiments strikes back after a hiatus of 3 years. While awaiting the new full length “Phenomena” (scheduled for August 2013) this EP serves as a solid teaser.
The title song somewhere moves in between body-pop and future-pop fields. It’s a pumping piece of danceable electronics with a nice carrying lead on top. The song was featured as an “Extended Cut” as well plus remixed by different bands. Among the 5 remixes there’s a great remix by Rotersand in their typical style and a rather technoid remix by Ivo Draganac. The most surprising remix comes from Heimataerde, which I didn’t fully recognize, but which did a great job.
Among the other tracks we get a few more remixes –from songs that will probably appear in their original version on the new CD. “Déjà Vu” sounds as the most noticeable track of the list. The “People Theatre’s Neverending Rmx” is a nice and sweet romantic pop song. The song “Eye Of A Storm” is a pretty calm piece of dreamy pop music and not exactly the kind of song that will enter into the clubs. Ivardensphere did an acceptable remix, but didn’t bring any bonus to the original version.
Conclusion: The title song for sure is a potential hit and therefore a good choice to get released on EP format. I’m really wondering what the new album will sound like, but a few more songs in the line of “Trial And Error” would be for sure a very positive aspect.
Best songs: “Trial And Error”, “Trial And Error – Ivo Draganac Rmx”, “Trial And Error – Rotersand Rework”.
