Sleepless – Decision (CD EP – Sleepless)Posted on 28/04/13
Genre/Influences: IDM, d’n’b.
Content: Sleepless is an Australian project and outburst for Aaron Potter who I know from his involvement in the Empty project.
Sleepless is quite different in style, covering a wide spectrum of electronics. There for sure are some pop traces, but the production has been diversified by impressive electro blasts, d’n’b rhythms and sophisticated IDM arrangements. We get 5 fascinating songs, which are mainly instrumentals although “The End” reveals some sexy vocal parts.
The 3 first songs are fully enjoyable, but aren’t nothing compared to both last pieces. “I Waited” especially is an incredible piece of music based upon on a terrific electro production, a solid lead and beating rhythms.
Conclusion: Sleepless sounds as a real revelation in IDM. I hope this band will strike back with a full length featuring a similar high qualitative level.
Best songs: “I Waited”, “The End”.
