Arnaud Rebotini – Pagan Dance Move (Digital EP – Zone Records)Posted on 16/12/12
The new EP of French producer and electro wizard Arnaud Rebotini has been released on Michel Amato’s (aka The Hacker) very own label, Zone. In my opinion, Rebotini is one of the greatest and most efficient composers when it comes to good-old analogue equipment. His mix of EBM, technoid influences and 80s vintage electronics is close to perfection. The album “Music Components” released on Citizen Records remains to me one of the best albums ever released in the electronic underground.
“Pagan Dance Move” takes off with the title song and features all the ingredients Rebotini likes to use. This is pure vintage electro based on danceable vibes and constructed with intelligent sounds and an alluring lead. “Their Synthetic Majesties Request” coming up next moves on a similar way while we get some extra robotic vocals on top. This song is pure lust mixing minimal EBM and technoid elements with each other. The track “Alan wilder War Whoop” sounds like a funny title, but can be seen as the b-side track of the EP. This one is less efficient although still achieved with fine bleeps and superb electro treatments.
The two last cuts are remixes of “Their Synthetic Majesties Request”. Both remixes by Crackboy and David Carretta are absolutely amazing. The remix by Crackboy is much more into groovy sequences while Carretta accentuates the carrying bass line running through the track and added cool sound effects as well.
Arnaud Rebotini always is a total guarantee for enlightening EBM. This is one more essential release in addition to his impressive discography.
