Avoid-A-Void – Musique Noire (CD – Echozone)

Industrial Music CDs at Storming The Base

The album, “Abyss Desires” released at the end of 2009 rather was an acceptable and promising debut for this German synth-pop band. Avoid-A-Void now strikes back with a brilliant successor and I dare to say is a real reference for synth-pop lovers.

“Musique Noire” is not exactly the kind of average synth-pop release. Rico & Falo compose a kind of body-pop sound guided through the alluring vocals of their singer (Falo). The singer has a captivating voice reflecting charisma. That’s an essential ingredient for a band dealing with electro-pop music and it for sure is one of the main strengths of this CD. But musically, “Musique Noire” still has a lot to offer. The global production of this opus sounds mature and professional. The songs were made with carrying leads, heavy sound sculptures and danceable vibes. “Musique Noire” is not exactly setting the world on fire, but features many attention grabbers.

The debut songs are absolutely marvelous. “Myself Within”, “Untouchable” and “No View” all are great and efficient cuts. The songs stand for dynamic electro-pop. The 2nd part of the album features a few more noticeable tracks like “S Got Kryptonite”, the more ‘dance’-minded “Flowers” and a solid last piece entitled “Love Was Dead”.
“Musique Noire” is the kind of album that has the power and quality to put this band on the map of good synth-pop music. This is a remarkable evolution in sound and production for a band you should definitely keep in mind.
