Nyodene D / Sektor 304 (CD – Malignant Records)

This release is a split CD featuring Nyodene D and Sektor 304. This album features an interesting and rather ‘new’ formula. Each band has used sound sources taken of the other band’s work. The idea is pretty original and has nothing in common with remixes. The sounds have been simply used to compose new tracks.

Sektor 304 has used sounds of Nyodene D’s “Edenfall” album to compose 3 tracks. Sektor 304 is a project I really like for their brilliant and poignant obscure ambient music. Obscurity exactly stands for the atmosphere emerging of “The Shaft”. The different noises have been collected and reworked into a poignant dark-ambient expression.

“Furnace” is another great cut which is more into industrial sounds and percussion. The song also features ghost-like screams accentuating some terror vision.

Nyodene D composed 2 tracks with sounds of Sektor 304. I especially like the “All Over All”-track, which sounds like the offspring between both projects. It’s quite dark-ambient like characterized by the obscure sound collages at one side and still totally Nyodene D-minded through the screams.

This split-CD simply is a brilliant concept featuring 2 creative projects confirming their great talent.
