Parallel Worlds & Dave Bessell – Morphogenic (CD – DiN)Posted on 02/12/12
Bakis Sirros (Parallel Worlds) and Dave Bessell (Node) already joined forces on a few releases. “Morphogenic” is the newest symbiosis of both artists and for sure a work to watch out for.
It all sounds like the input of Bessell brings a lesser experimental touch to the composition, or is it Sirros moving into more accessible compositions? “Morphogenic” however is a fascinating and accessible experience mixing very different ambient influences. It often appears to be a kind of soundscape composed with multiple instruments and noise sources.
“Morphogenic” opens a window upon a mysterious sonic path. There always is a kind of mysterious atmosphere hanging over the tracks. It rapidly leads you into an imaginary abyss where you feel like you are imprisoned by chilling passages. But “Morphogenic” first of all sound like it is being conceived in a real and authentic sound laboratory. The tracks have been achieved with different little details like psychedelic, wafting atmospheres, piano-like arrangements and down tempo rhythms.
The 8 tracks are fascinating and intelligent. The main strength behind this work for sure is the amazing and impressive sound arsenal that was used. Both artists use good-old equipment that inject this very authentic feeling in sound. The last part of the album definitely is a very noticeable chapter on the album. It’s dominated by great pieces like “Denormal”, “Corruption” and “Heterodyne.”
“Morphogenic” is an accomplished piece of work conceived by the efforts of 2 talented artists and the little help of a few guests and DiN-boss Ian Boddy for the mastering.
