V/A Modern Synthpop Vol.1 (CD - BND Productions)

-Bands: Brand New Day, Tycho Brahe, Erotic Elk, Vision Talk, Syrian, Blind Faith & Envy, Saudade, Rupesh Cartel ao.
-Comment: Sytnh-pop is back and is progressively starting to get back to its past status. This new sampler released by BND Productions (the label set up by and for Brand New Day) is a recommended sampler for all synth-pop fans. The sampler opens with Elevated Sins and Brand New Day both signed on BND Productions. The quite power-pop like "When You Were Mine" from Brand New Day is a pretty well-crafted song. Things start to get really interesting with Cylix and their "Miles divide"-song reminding to De/Vision. Synth-pop remains inspired by the 80s and Tycho Brahe on "1985" brings the most accurate example in the genre. Union Of Intentions is a rather new name to me, but their typical synth-pop sound is well-crafted. Erotic Elk (recently signed to Major Records) is for sure the newest sensation from the scene. The power-pop from those Germans leaves me once more breathless. That's just an appetizer for the upcoming Vision Talk and their "Paradise For Free" (Sthilmann Electrolight Remix). According to me this is another great revelation from the past year in sytnh-pop land. This remix sounds a little bit technoid as well, but it remains highly danceable power-pop! Hypersoul coming next launches happy dance-pop music. A few more names to keep in mind here are Syrian (which seems like a comeback) and Electraset with a quite robotic sounding pop style. I personally expected a bit more out of other established names like Rupesh Cartel and Blind Faith & Envy. "Modern Synthpop" is an adequate and right title perfectly representing the current generation of synthpop! This sampler hasn't been released by the most famous and familiar label, but the content is absolutely gorgeous!
