Exit State – Death Of A Rockstar (CD – King Prawn Records)

It’s been a while since Exit State released their debut-EP “Bad Days” on King Prawn Records, including the eponymous single and the hit “Savior”. Now they present to us their first full-length album “Death Of A Rockstar”. The title of the album is maybe a bit improper, because this cd seems to be more the birth of new rockstars. But first things first! The album with the very artfully cover starts with “Lost Beyond Belief”. A hot, hot, hot one! The sound comes up fast, and already the first vocals and guitars show how much rock is inside the veins of these four musicians! They serve us a fresh, powerful, high pressure, and down-home sound. Excellent! The first tip of “Death Of A Rockstar” is “Dominates Me”. Even if the drums in the intro are a tiny bit too pure, the song rocks. It’s dark and aggressive. Lesser aggressive, but with much more feeling and atmosphere, part one of the title track floats through the speakers. It reminds me a bit of The Murder Of My Sweet`s “Death Of A Moviestar” (maybe the actor and the rocker were akin with each other. Who knows?). Part two is more harder, and also, profoundly melodious. Catchy to the end, plus the clear sound of a first class recording. Both parts are the tips of the album! Another song you shouldn’t miss is “I Know Where You Are”. This one is not so strong like “Out Till 3” or “Bad Days”, but the final is just awesomely made! And with “And She Said” they proof that they are able to let hearts melt, same as they comminute amps before. Exit State submit to us a great debut album. Nothing to add. The bottom line: Skill meets rock, meets action, meets atmosphere, meets an authentic general view! Well done! I just can quote my own review about their EP: ‘Absolutely up and coming!’
