V/A Under The Weight Of Light (CD Projekt)

-Style: Dark-Wave, cabaret, ballad.
-Bands: Black Tape For A Blue Girl, Unto Ashes, Spiritual Front, Rome, Lux Interna ao.
-Comment: Black Tape For A Blue Girl opening and ending this sampler is without a shadow of a doubt the right band at the right time. This now legendary formation set up by Sam Rosenthal (who's also the boss of Projekt) starts with the interesting "Sailor Boy". It reminds me a bit to Nick Cave singing on a cabaret-song. It also gives an indication about the style and bands here selected. We're visiting the wide fields and musical purposes of the great Projekt label. As most noticeable and memorable bands we get the guitar-wave style of Weep delivering the carrying "Ever Shy"-song. The wave style of "Makaras Pen" is also a great moment here. The Twilight Garden is also worthy of examination. The song "Dead Adults" is a mix of new-wave and electronic bleeps. Katzenjammer Kabarett and their "Romance"-song doesn't sound that 'romance'-like at all. It's a great piece of post-punk with a vocalist reminding me of Siouxsie Sioux. Last, but not least I've to mention the absolute high light featured here. This is a remix of the "Tonacayotica"-song from Soriah. This song sounds a bit like ritual-wave music with a spooky male vocalist on top. This is excellent! "Under The Weight Of Light" is an entertaining sampler confirming the great taste of Sam Rosenthal!
