-Comment: To be pretty honest with you, Tympanik Audio is according to me one of the very few labels, which added a bonus to electronic music during the past 2 years. Most of their releases feature an intelligent sound far away from dark electro standards and easy industrial projects. This new sampler featuring 29 bands is a new opportunity to discover cool label names next to a few other interesting projects (totally fitting to the label roaster). The 1st disc stats with a rather bombastic cut from SE followed by the energetic rhythmic and electro-ambient atmospheres of Access To Arasaka (recently signed on Tympanik). Lucidstatic is one of these bands revealing and confirming the intelligent electronic style of the label. The track “Coal,Cage” has been remixed by Access To Arasaka (again) and is one of the high lights from this disc. Ab Ovo brings an interesting cut with a slow rhythmic driving through a kind of glasshouse universe. Displacer is for sure one of the most familiar names, which here delivers an excellent “Nightfall Mix” of “Sun_Phase”. Empusae coming next delivers the absolute attention grabber from this disc. The “Detritus Remix” of “Hard Boiled Wonderland” is a refined piece of electro ambient music. Loss is another cool project with a nice twist between refined electronics and bombastic parts. A last name to keep in mind is Terminal Sound System delivering a kind of epic-ambient piece. On the 2nd disc we get a first high light with Liar’s Rosebush mixing d’n’b elements together with outstanding electro tones. Famine brings a cool challenge with a mish mash of different genres mixed together. It’s a great experience with remarkable soundsculptures. Fractional (new album will be released on Tympanik) goes a bit the same line and is not bad at all. Autoclav 1.1 is another example of high-tech- and intelligent electronics while Raoul Sinier and his “Untitled 10”-piece delivers the ‘bomb’ of this 2nd disc. The track is a bit technoid-like and a real pleasure for the lovers of progressive electronics. Undermathic excels in irresistible sound treatments driven by a bombastic rhythmic. We next get a few more experimental tracks by projects like Tapage & Meander and Skytree while OTX closing this sampler remains outstanding in sound research. “EO3” is pure pleasure and lust!
