Wayne Hussey – Bare (CD EchoZone/ Eyes Wide Shut Recordings)

Here is the first solo album from The Mission's lead singer and composer Wayne Hussey. “Bare” delivers a collection of quiet and delicate acoustic ballads. Most of the songs are based either on piano or acoustic guitars leaving lots of room for Wayne's deep and moving vocals. Several cover songs are included among which I would point out “A Night Like This” (from The Cure) or “With Or Without You” (from U2). Wayne is also revisiting some Mission cuts such as “Black Mountain Mist”, “Garden Of Delight”, “Absolution” or “Shelter From The Storm” (we're far from the strong and epic original version) in a pleasant way. The final track called “One Thing Leads To Another” shows a possible direction for future recording for him (rumors says he is busy recording with Julianne Regan from All About Eve). This special edition of “Bare” offers 5 live cuts recorded in Germany including the brilliant “Kingdom Come” but also a cover of David Bowie's “Ashes To Ashes”. Sure that fans of Mission will embrace this more personal and intimate side of this legend person from the dark wave and gothic scene. Nice work!
