Heimstatt Yipotash brings 2009 to a good end with the release of their 3rd official full length. André Matthes & Thomas Niedballa have been quite prolific this year. After the release of a split-cd “Prototypes” with the Takhtahk project they here strikes back with a quite diversified release exploring different angles of industrial music. This duo that started with a quite experimental approach on their “Storegga Affect” evolved towards more accessible songs and releases. After a rather industrial minded opener (cf. “In Statu Nasceni”) the track “Get Lost” surprises with an electro-industrial writing reminding me of the 80s and coming closer to the great Geistform. Well, if you expect an entire album in this vein, you’ll be disappointed.. “Urban Night Motifs” mainly explored industrial territories from where they bring us harder pieces like “Mindcartridge”, “Breathe In, Freak Out” or yet the real heavy “Pavement Chicks”. This song is led by a murderous rhythmic while the electronic sequences that come close to the edge of trance. The band however remains quite experimental on a few more tracks, but I think it’s a damn good thing these pieces were alternated by other ideas and treatments. Heimstatt Yipotash will be never my favorite band from the great and impressiva Hands stable, but I’ve to recognize it’s a band that evolves in time and influences!
