The "War On Error"-EP preceding the 4th full length of Rotersand was a real promising piece of music featuring a terrific title song and the even better "Bastards Screaming". Like with the previous albums of Rotersand my expectations were quite high! Well, maybe a bit too high as Rotersand shows an album with two faces. The first and most powerful side sounds in a similar vein as the EP including the 2 aforementioned songs. "War On Error" and "Bastards Screaming" are both dancefloor killers mixing EBM, technoid elements and a damned efficient dancefloor rhythmic. In a similar vein comes the great "If you Don't Stop It". This is my personal favorite! Rotersand once more reveals outstanding sound textures empowered by a murderous beat and a few, but efficient vocal lines for this song. This is Rotersand at their best! Another remarkable song is "A Number And A Name". This tracks is quite different and a kind of particular song on the tracklist. It's however hard and danceable while it reminds me of the style of Zombie Girl (not for the lyrics!). Next comes a softer style, which brings the pop songs of Rotersand. We don't have to forget that the band started in 2003 by their famous "Merging Oceans"-Mcd, which was quite futurepop-like. A quite similar style runs through this album as well. It's not the typical old (and now gone) futurepop genre, but it for sure sounds like reminiscences of this electro-pop music. Rotersand here again reveals a great maturity in song writing and especially in sound research. "Waiting To Be Born", "Speak To Me" and "Beneath The Stars" are the main 'pop' tracks from this new release. "Waiting To Be Born" is definitely the most futurepop-minded cut while "Speak To Me" (which was also released on the "War On Error"-EP) sounds more powerful although pop-like as well. Rasc, Gun and Krischan already surprise with amazing arrangements and an elaborated writing. I expected a 'harder' album, but "Random Is Resistance" features next to his 'hard' part also a 'softer' side leading to a more balanced result. A last important item I want to mention is the artistic digipak format from this album, which is really cool!
