Voice Of Eye - Seven Directions Divergent (CD Conundrum Unlimited)

The Voice Of eye duo was mainly active in the 90s. After more or less nine years of silence they came back in 2007 and have been again quite prolific since than. This is their 12th album to date, which invites us to a new exploration of fascinating ambient realms. Voice Of Eye is far from all ambient standards. Opening in a quite psychedelic way with some sensual female vocal parts on top they next move into wafting experiences, which sounds like a prelude for a more experimental piece. The least I can say is that it's quite difficult to catch their sound. That's precisely the point where this album starts to be really interesting and captivating. When combining some of the aforementioned elements together you get a track like ""Golden Space Funk Transmission". "Om Shanti" coming next is definitely the absolute pearl from this release. Here again the band explores another facet of ambient music becoming more ethereal and mystic. The song was sung in traditional Sanskrit which injects this mystic consonance. Musical wise it reminds me of the legendary Dead Can Dance. Every song is a new experience and exploration, but in the end the seven songs of "Seven Directions Divergent" are fascinating! This is a band that dares to avoid established standards and other clichés!
