Disharmony - Evolution (CD Tympanik Audio)
Releasing albums on labels like Broken Seal, Tympanik Audio and Aliens Productions this Slovakian project recently released their best album to date entitled "Malignant Shields" (released on Alien Productions). This album was a pure chef d'oeuvre that can be linked to the complexity and ingenuity of Clock DVA. I didn't exactly expect a new album although it seems that the songs for "Evolution" have been composed in between 2006 and 2009. "Evolution" is already a new surprise and the least I can say is that Disharmony doesn't exactly repeat themselves! Forget about the Clock DVA-style of "Malignant shields", but get ready for a more astral voyage full of irresistible electronic atmospheres and refined bleeps. The album isn't just atmospheric and is leaded by low tempo rhythms. "Evolution" is an album full of little details and it's rather impossible to analyse all songs. One main evolution in the songs are the adding of vocals! The vocal parts remind me of bands like Mortal Constraint and In Strict Confidence injecting an extra layer in the soundscape. It sounds like hearing another band, but Disharmony clearly have an impressive arsenal of influences. The vocals are probably the most brutal ingredient of this album. "Evolution" also moves on the edge of soundtrack compositions like illustrated on "Euphoric" and "Coloseum". I personally prefer the darker style of "Izometrix", which reminds me of Klinik in a post-millennium mix. The electro-atmospheric "Legend" is another great feature on "Evolution" while "Endofends" definitely sounds like the most mysterious piece. It starts with a kind of sacred chant leading the composition in a higher and mystic dimension. Last, but not least the very last song of the album is the title song and this one is another genius extract from this band's knowledge. It's a refined piece of music full of porcelain sounding tones, which are like a contradiction to the heavier, brute and broken rhythms. "Evolution" shows another facet of Disharmony, which can be easily seen as an evolution in sound!
