Second Disease can be announced as the last resurrection coming from the dark electro nirvana. Releasing their debut album "Flame The Dark True" in 1996 on the legendary Zoth Ommog, this German duo send us a last sign on life in 2001 with the "Am I God / The Dogma Remixes" album released on Maschinenwelt Records. Second Disease is a band I perfectly remember from their remarkable debut-album. "While The Masses Sleep" is definitely an album the band will need to bring their name and music back to life and seduce many young dark electro lovers. The dark electronic compositions aren't exactly the most accessible ones although crafted with intelligence! Second Disease sometimes appears as a kind of hybrid between The Klinik (for their 80s influences) and Mortal Constraint (for the 90s influences). Don't expect here the traditional bouncing and pumping dark electro release, but an album that moves much more into obscure and icy atmospheres led by less danceable rhythms. I'm not saying that you can not dance on their songs, but Second Disease is more like a band to listen to. They prefer creating songs in complexity with some mystic atmospheres on top than falling into the cheap trap of emulation. With songs like "In Doubt", "Deadline, "Charity", "Red River" and "Noise" they reveal their strong potential. Second Disease are masters in dark electronic atmospheres. It's a way in between pure ambient and heavy EBM. The spooky vocals are just another illustration of their non-compromised sense of composition. L. Hoffmann and M.R. Kraft bring a kind of challenging release that will without a shadow of a doubt inject some freshness in the stagnating dark electronic universe!
