Luigi Rubino didn�t exactly ring a bell, but when I discovered that this musician is the pianist of Ashram I became rather intrigued what this debut solo-album could sound like. �A Theme For The Moon� sounds like deeply influenced by classical music and would fit perfectly for a neo-classic soundtrack. Mainly composed on piano, Luigi Rubino invited a few guest musicians to achieve his imaginary soundtrack. It leads to a kind of contemporary concerto between piano and other instruments like violin and cello. The songs are full of grace while revealing a deep and meaningful taste of sadness. The compositions don�t exactly sound as the happiest music, but it�s definitely a style that will take the listener away in imaginary universes full of romanticism. The main songs remain instrumentals, but we also get a few cuts with female vocals. These vocals are more like mysterious chants giving an extra dimension to the music of Luigi Rubino. I�m here referring to �Les Larmes D�Automne� and especially to �D�Inverno�, which is the absolute masterpiece of this album. It all sounds like pure chemistry between the musician and his vocalist(s). Music becomes poetry and feelings of sadness have been never that enlightening. Luigi Rubino brings a few more high lights like �Nostalgie�, �Behind The Clouds� or yet �He Is Her�. Ashram is a band I really appreciate, but this solo-project from their pianist is definitely from another dimension! Music can be that simple and that fascinating when it�s composed with passion and devotion! No other label than Prikosnov�nie could have released such a chef d�oeuvre!
