All true Alien Sex Fiend fans should get a hold of this dcd compilation that sums up quite nicely a long and tortuous career (that doesn’t seem to be over by the way). This 12 inch collection offers most of the singles released by the band, on vinyl in their early days and on cd for their most recent efforts. Plenty of anthemic tunes thus ranging from their post punk and batcave tracks like “Dead And Buried”, “New Christian Music” or “Attack!” (on which they sometimes sound like a gore version of The Cramps on acid) to their more dub and electro cuts (such as the groovy “Ignore The Machine”, “EST” or “Maximum Security”). Creepy, weird (their speeded up version of “Lip’s Can’t Go” for instance or “Stuff The Turkey”) and with an insane sense of humour, Nik Fiend and his mates break all rules and easily jump from one style to another without losing their bite. They still sound and look like a UFO in today’s scene but they certainly have kept a strong fanbase. This two disc set, with its large bunch of rare track or remixed version (there are some b-side tracks such as their cover of Alice Cooper’s “Schools Out”) is a consistent release!
