Crispin Lee is an English artist I know from Paranoid Foundation. He now strikes back (without Andrew Walker; who took care for the cover image) under a new moniker and a different approach in sound. City Paranoid remains quite minimal and dark ambient like. One of the main differences with City Paranoid appears in the vocal parts. The spoken and narrating vocals have a dominating role here. It creates a kind of sonic-horror novel because of the dark dungeon music supporting the vocals. Disturbing noises are leading the listener into a position of voyeur, which doesn’t feel that comfortable at all. City Paranoid for sure creates a kind of ‘paranoiac’ sensation. This is definitely music appealing for a strong visual sensation. I personally prefer the Paranoid Foundation project, but the least I can say is that this artist doesn’t repeat himself! This is maybe a good project for the Cold Meat industry stable!
