We’re used to hearing Coph Nia on Cold Meat Industries, but for this very special maxi titled “Qliphothic Phantasmagoria” or “Exorcising Old Demons” they joined the Polish Wrotycz Records. This maxi contains 4 cover versions from very famous heavy metal bands. Starting with Black Sabbath’s “Black Sabbath” the Coph Nia duo here brings a kind of orchestral-martial interpretation. Next comes the exorcism of Alice Cooper’s “Sick Things”, which is a real quiet interpretation in the martial style. Hawkind’s “Levitation” has been reworked a similar way while the vocals are spoken like. It’s definitely minimal, but interesting. The last piece is definitely the best one and brings a cover version of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Mr. Crowley”. That’s for sure a song Coph Nia had to cover (being inspired by A. Crowley) and, which they transformed in the most diversified and elaborated piece from this Mcd. A kind of unexpected conceptual release sold in an artistic digipak format.
