Celebrating 25 years of pioneering industrial-metal, KMFDM releases another 5-letter named album containing 11 sonic blasts: “Blitz”! Analogue synthetics with high-powered hooks are the keywords for this new release which contains a special surprise element: the return of wayward KMFDM-er Tim Skold on instruments and production. Another unexpected re-appearance comes in the form of singer Cheryl Wilson in a duo with Lucia on the disco-amped “Strut”, reminding me in some way to the melody of "Sex and Drugs And Rock 'n Roll" (Ian Dury). The best songs surely are "Davai" (Russian for "come on") brought in the typical powerful hau ruck-way and the very danceable club-hit "Never Say Never" with gothic guitars in the style of the Sisters Of Mercy. The classic eighties new-wave song from the Human League "Being Boiled" is also covered by Sascha K. and other stuff you should check out is "Bait & Switch", "Potz Blitz!" (German lyrics and a lot of metal-riffs!) and the last track "Take'm Out".
