Schallfaktor - Sittenverfall (cd Infacted Records)

Industrial Music CDs at Storming The Base

“Sittenverfall” is a notable step forward for Schallfaktor after last year’s “End Of Love”-EP. Like the EP, “Sittenverfall” is stylistically comparable at times to acts like Suicide Commando, Agonoize, and even Velvet Acid Christ. Yet, despite the similarities, its overall quality is often on par with their predecessors. Crackling with a juicy arpeggio, the loping growls of “Promiskuitiv” achieve perfect syncopation with its tense lead synth and titanic snare and bass stomp. Though evocative of a punchier [:SITD:], this piece is quickly eclipsed by “Mir”. The staccato bounce forged by its sharp synth riffs, meaty bass line, and gurgling vocoders is divine, yet its subtle shades of falsetto synth ennui raise it above being one-dimensional floor filler. Though the deep space machine hiccups and hypnotic faux-clarinet serenade of the haunting “Infinity” diverge from their policy of remorseless beats, “Aroused” proves vocals aren’t needed to fit in with the brutal majority. Opening with lurid samples and flanged airstrip winds, this snare-sparking locomotive of trance unfolds to pummel the listener with galloping arpeggios and muffled beats. Though Schallfaktor may still lack some originality, it’s quite doubtful that anyone will focus on such complaints when listening to this thoroughly catchy disc.
