After 3 remarkable albums (“Genozid”, “Prozium” and “Mutilate”) released on COP International, the German trio from Zentriert Ins Antlitz now joined Tympanik Audio. “No!” sounds like the ultimate accomplishment thus far. The style of this opus is comparable to the “Mutilate”-album, but it’s definitely more elaborated, refined and achieved. “No!” is an exceptional piece of music where dark electronics, ambient atmospheres and soundtrack parts are constantly meeting each other. Zentriert Ins Antlitz launches a progressive piece of electronics where they definitely avoid established standards, trends and other clichés. Therefore this release perfectly fits to the Tympanik Audio roster. I’ve been seriously impressed by the sound research of this band. The song “Where Their Dreams Live” is a real good illustration of their impressive arsenal of sounds and the wide-spectrum of influences. Imagine some cold, astral tones à la Haujobb mixed with a dark bass line à la Klinik plus some female spoken samplings and a low tempo rhythmic. Some heavenly strings complete this picture, but the surprise is yet to come. An acoustic guitar part has been added on top and the least I can say is that it simply works and even appears to be one of the best cuts from this album! One of the main forces and particularities of this band is that they meticulously built up their compositions. They’re mixing very different influences with each other, but the totality of all the ingredients creates a compact and fascinating result. The track “Silence Diary”’ is another remarkable example of this meticulous composition. It all starts quite calm and progressively evolve towards a real kind of climax in sounds with mind-blowing sound-sculptures. Zentriert Ins Antlitz has familiarized us with instrumental songs and this album holds on the tradition. A few female spoken samplings are now and than injecting some diversity, but it just brings a little bonus and nothing more. A few orchestral arrangements definitely accentuate the soundtrack style of this band. That’s maybe one of the new elements featured on this album. Cuts like “24th Dimension”, “Manage My Sensibility” and “No” are all excellent ambassadors of this more picturesque approach. The band this way reveals to get different sides leading them to different exits and opportunities. They for sure have the potential to become real soundtrack musicians. “No!” also delivers a few technoid bleeps and other filtered sounds. It adds another modern touch to their work, which emerge to the surface from songs like “Today” and “Can’t Get Me”. This album remains me to some elements of Haujobb and Jerico One, but with a more diversified approach in sound writing. Notice by the way that there’s also a limited edition available containing 2 bonus discs with a bunch of remixes! This band is genius while their album is a class act!
