Jason Hollis aka Endif strikes back with a successor to his “Meta”-cd released in 2007 on Crunch Pod. “Carbon” reveals a certain evolution in sound especially in the incorporation of cool electro sequences. The mix of this electronic element with harsher beats and industrial elements result in a real great production. The debut track “Churl” directly brings us a cool illustration of this sound. The next two tracks are definitely harsher and more experimental. Other cuts, like “Between two worlds” and “Soft Power”, illustrate the excellent electronic soundsculptures assimilated to a more industrial sounding work. “Carbon” is pretty refreshing and it is for sure more original than the average industrial composition we’re used to. But Endif isn’t the most representative industrial project as it covers a wider spectrum of influences. A very good track illustrating this eclecticism is the “Last Tribe”-cut (composed in collaboration with Replogen), which reveals a little technoid background touch. “Carbon” definitely convinced me for its strong diversified industrial potential!
