Rachel Haywire is the name of the female artist hiding behind this heavy project. Next to her music project she’s the founder of Machinekunt Records, a label she created for independent female artists creating dark electronics, noise and industrial. It is a culmination of all these styles that represent the sound of Experiment Haywire. After a feature on the 3rd act of the famous “Endzeit Bunkertracks”-sampler she here launches a kind of electro-industrial bomb entitled “Annihilation Chic”. One of the essential elements of her music is the sharp, screaming and sometimes spoken vocals of Rachel. She now and then reminds me of Sina from Pzychobitch and S.I.N.A. (which seems to be a source of inspiration). The opening cut “Mean Enough Not Enough” brings us immediately to the essence of Experiment Haywire’s sound. It’s a violent and bombastic electronic form, which is brutal and rough. It simply characterizes the work of this tough woman. A little bit more refinement in the writing would maybe add an extra touch, but Haywire seems to be a woman with a real beast inside her mind. A few bands like x** and Caustic contributed to this album with 2 cool remixes, which are more club friendly. Especially the more into EBM remix of “Game Called Life” by x** reveals to have a strong dancefloor potential. Some other projects like Ambassador 21 and Kalte Farben did some remix work as well! Coming from a female artist, this album is really extreme in sound and has a chance to makes it way in the industrial realm!
