In The Nursery don’t need any further introduction. Active for years now and having released an amazing amount of music over the past decades they now mainly focus on the writing of soundtracks. The most noticeable ones have been composed for worldwide-recognized movies like “Interview With The Vampire”, “The Aviator” and “Beowulf”, but ITN also did some more minimal soundtracks as well. This new release concerns “the Passion Of Joan Of Arc” originally released by Carl Th. Dreyer in 1928. Based on this old movie and the terrible destiny of this French heroin, ITN wrote a refined piece of music based on piano parts and heavenly arrangements. It totally fits to the universe of this French virgin, who became a symbol of one of the greatest nations on earth. The 2nd part of this album is definitely more exciting seeing the Humberstone twins exploring more mysterious sonic fields with a few frightening fragments. I’m especially referring to the “Lost Soul”-piece, but also to “State Of Grace” and the magical “I Have Lied”. I can’t exactly memorize the life of Joan Of Arc when listening to this release, but the soundtrack style is definitely well done! ITN is simply genius in this style of music and you feel they evolve from release to release!
