Alfa Matrix has something with bands from their homeland. After Front 242, 32 Crash, Implant, Nebula-H, Monolith, Diskonnekted, Aiboforcen and Star Industry here comes the youngest Belgian band from the Matrix: Psy’Aviah. The sound of this trio isn’t that easy to define because they compose their very own style of electronics. Several influences are running through their work, but the main evolution with their earlier and self-released work is a more experimental approach of their sound. It all feels a bit like Psy’Aviah is still in search of their sound while they perfectly mix electronics and wave guitar parts. In the meantime, this official debut-cd offers some cool surprises. It’s maybe a sign that the best cuts and let’s say the most clubby-minded songs are probably the most conventional ones. The more bombastic “Voltage” and the harder “AnimalX” are for sure excellent songs revealing modern sound textures, sexy female vocals now and then alternated by rougher male ones and a danceable rhythmic. But “Entertainment Industries” has much more to offer and we here comes to the more experimental side of the trio. Now walking on poppier fields with tracks like “Tired” and “In The Shadows” and than experimental with the opening title song and “Freedomkiller”. Psy’Aviah also moves into a more atmospheric spirit with the “Grace”-song, which is a kind of end song. The ‘extra’ of the album reveals 4 amazing remixes by renowned bands like Leather Strip and Implant from the Alfa-Matrix stable. Implant brings a cool remix of an older song entitled “In Silence”. Their young label mate from Diffuzion chose an older song as well and their remix of “Infected” is real clubby-minded. The award of best remix goes to IC434! The remix of “Broken Child” was literally transposed into the dark and torturing power of IC434 and Geert de Wilde made a real pearl from the original version. This album has been released in a play-station box format, which means no limited edition. This album serves as a real good introduction to this promising formation!
