After the “Tsunami”-cd released in 2004 and the “Dirge For The Doomed”-single released in 2005 it seems to have taken a while to this Swiss combo to achieve their new release. I can immediately assure you it was a worth the wait as “Chymeia” became a real impressive opus. The songs seem to exorcize all the different influences from the members, but the main musical inspiration sounds like gothic and pop. The mix of both of these components works remarkably and stands for numerous cool pieces. Some traces of pure new wave and melancholic moods accentuate the colour of “Chymeia”. In every song you’ll always find some catchy elements that you easily will keep in mind. The certain fragile female vocals create an alluring duality with the heavier guitar riffs, but everything sounds in perfect balance. I’m not surprised to find this album back on the famous DAC (German alternative charts) because it simply deserves to be there! As most recommended cuts I’ll push “Dirge For The Doomed” (known from their previous single) and “Twilight” to the forefront! An album to watch out for while I’m dreaming to see this band on stage together with The Birthday Massacre…that would be simply sublime…
