One of the electro acts from the 80's Japanese Post-Techno Pop music scene has returned from silence after 23 years. Based in the Kansai region in Japan the band was founded in 1982 by Kenji Konishi (vox, electronics), Tadahiko Yokogawa (vox, violin, bass, electronics), Shinobu Narita (vox, guitar, electronics) and Kazuya Nakagaki. They are back with quite an eclectic electronic album. Opener “Spin”, with Japanese lyrics, starts with break beats and some scan verses. “Welcome Back”, a down tempo track with English lyrics comes very close to Kraftwerk, but without the same coldness. Electro clash song “Goodbye Machine” reminds me of Billy Idol. A nice example of the differentiation on this album is the track “Passage”, a minimal instrumental track which could have been a real Autechre song. “My Neighbour Upstairs”, one of my favourite tracks, is very danceable and built on an EBM bassline but with quite a refreshing modern twist. The rest of the album, about 5 mediocre tracks, couldn’t really satisfy me. This is not a groundbreaking album, but it is an interesting one because of the different electronic elements ranging from ambient towards techno industrial music. This release comes with a folded special designed polygon sleeve case with artwork by Gaku Amatsu.
