The Young Werewolves – Cheat The Devil (cd The Young Werewolves)Posted on 01/05/08
The 2nd full length of the Philadelphia-based The Young Werewolves is musical wise not exactly my cup of tea. And yet, there’re some bands, which are always able to catch your attention and make you have a real good moment. That’s what happened to me during the listening of “Cheat The Devil”. This band is definitely too fun and party-like. Their musical style can be best defined as the offspring between punk, rock, wave and garage music. Inspired by the theme of werewolves they bring some hilarious lyrics. This is a very good example of a band that likes to make music while having fun. They don’t take themselves too serious, but just bring carrying and powerful songs. As a hidden track comes the Duran Duran cover of “Hungry Like The Wolf”. I’m not saying that this is the best song of the album, but it perfectly fits to their efficient song writing and funny image! This album is a good option to get some relief and a lot of fun when you’ve been bored for too long by dark music!
