Dark Distant Spaces has now been active for more than 20 years. After numerous releases they still find the energy and inspiration to go on. Their new album “Dark Like My Soul” remains pop inspired, but when you listen to the entire album you’ll perceive a kind of wave-pop style. The title of the album “Dark Like My Soul” perfectly stands for the global mood emerging from this release. There’s less power (and that’s for sure a pity on a few songs), but an explicit sad and melancholic touch on top of most songs. “Play Again” and “Bragqueen” are definitely the most representative songs in this context while in a more wave style “A Song For You” is an enjoyable piece of music. Notice by the way that they picked up an old song “Money counts” originally composed in 1987 and which 20 years later has been re-recorded here. It’s definitely the best track of the album! Dark Distant Space released an easy listening production without real surprises!
