Behind Maxx:Impact hides a long-time active artist of the Belgian electro-underground scene. This new project is a kind of side-project of Liquid G. Peter Van Bogaert has already been active for quite a long time and here pushes his raw and brute electronics of Liquid G into a heavier form. We can define it as a kind of primitive electronics. There’s a total absence of complex structures and multiple layers of sounds, but just a kind of straightforward composition mixing dark electro influences together with industrial components. It sounds quite minimal-like and old school fashioned. It will be for sure a relief for all people who don’t like too much modernism and complexity. A track like “Blow Up Your speaker” will even evoke some lost memories from early Absolute Body Control-stuff. It’s just a pity that this project remains mainly instrumental. A track with vocals like “What’s Wrong” brings an interesting bonus to the music. The minimalism of this album will be not that easy to convince a wider audience!
