This album of the American writer and musician Lorin Morgan-Richards is a reissue of an album originally released in 2001. You maybe know this album or the older “Enki”-cd where she revealed a production full of space-wave reverie songs. “An Occurrence Remembered” sounds a bit different for being more diversified in the writing. The artist mixes different influences reaching a kind of gothic-sphere sound. The concept behind the album is based around Ambrose Bierce’s Civil War short stories “An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge” and “Chickamauga”. The main attractive part of the entire concept is probably the live performance (like an experimental ballet) that has been established around the story and the music of Lorin Morgan-Richards. I must confess that the music didn’t impress me that much for remaining too linear. I didn’t hear any kind of climax and the few interesting guitar parts and some vocal lines are definitely not enough to speak about a successful opus. The music seems to be nothing without the visual side of the concept!
