Nigel Samways & Foss Moigne – Sanyo 07.1/Sanyo 07.2 Remixes (CD EP – INTOY)

Genre/Influences: Experimental, ambient.

Background/Info: I did not find a lot of information about Nigel Samways and Foss Moigne. Both artists seem to share a common interest in experimental and ambient music. This production is based upon the original source material “Sanyo 07.1 / Sanyo 07.2” which was recorded in 2007 by Nigel Samways.

Content: The original material was recorded in Japan by a dictaphone and consisted of field recordings. It creates an ambient and experimental touch, which is rapidly recognizable on these remixes. You feel like you are walking through sterile sound corridors some distant spoken vocals lost in an anguishing ocean of despair.

+ + + : Both remixes of “Sanyo” are noticeable cuts, which will appeal to lovers of experimental sound treatments. I like the way the basis of the recording has been transposed and reworked into a fascinating ambient sound. I like the cold and mysterious atmospheres hanging over the tracks while the extra cut (cf. “Midnight Temple – Coda”) totally fits in the global approach.

– – – : I regret there are only 3 tracks featured on this disc. I got an insatiable feeling at the end, but that’s more like a compliment.

Conclusion: Nigel Samways & Foss Moigne stands for an exploration of intriguing ambient passages that will rapidly awake your deepest fantasies and create an imaginary visual content fitting to the sound.

Best songs: “Sanyo 07.2 Remix”.
