David Bowie to play in 'Hannibal'?Posted on 28/06/13
Excellent danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (playing Hannibal Lecter in the "Hannibal" series) might soon be joined by David Bowie on the set. Bowie has been approached by American screenwriter and television producer Bryan Fuller to play Hannibal's uncle in the American thriller television series. Bowie was offered a role in season two of "Hannibal". If you read the books, you'll know that Hannibal's uncle, Count Robert Lecter, was killed by Nazis. Fuller explains the role by the fact that the timeline of the TV-series is a little more present, which means that there's place for some alternate universe storytelling where he could still be alive.
For those whose knowledge is limited to US police series, Mads Mikkelsen shot to (Scandinavian) fame after playing Tonny the drug dealer in the first two films of the "Pusher" film trilogy and in his longest running role as a brash yet sensitive policeman in Niels Arden Oplev's Danish television series "Rejseholdet". What followed were roles in "Casino Royale", "King Arthur", "Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky", "The Three Musketeers", … He also featured in the excellent 2012 Danish film "The Hunt".
Below we added a trailer of "Hannibal".
