Since the digital download release of Louise Rutkowski's "Mimi" in April last year, work on an album has progressed steadily. Together with co-writer Irvin Duguid, Rutkowski (known for her work with This Mortal Coil & Hope Blister) recorded 12 tracks in total with most nearing completion. In order to get to the album finished and released Rutkowski has now launched a campaign with Pledge Music.
Says Rutkowski : "Everyone involved in the running of Pledge has years of experience in the industry and I was attracted to this way of releasing my album as it allows me to reconnect with fans directly. I was also interested to see that many well-known artists, as well as newcomers, are using this way of producing new music."
To get the campaign started she is now offering a free track, "It’s Time" mixed and mastered by Calum Malcolm. Go to Pledge Music (or check after the jump) and click on the download button.
Louise Rutkowski recorded 3 singles and an album with legendary soul producer Pete Wingfield, but it’s her work with cult independent label 4AD for which she is best known. As part of the This Mortal Coil collective, Louise Rutkowski's voice can be heard on the "Filigree & Shadow" and "Blood" albums, and as lead vocalist on The Hope Blister’s 1998 "Smile’s OK" album.
In 2001 she released "6 Songs" on her own label, Jock Records, exploring the surreal world of Randy Newman.
