Inferno destroys Zwischenfall Club building in GermanyPosted on 21/08/11
(Photo by Zwischenfall Club) - Last Thursday evening, August 19th, a fire destroyed amongst 3 other houses also the building where the famous electro club Zwischenfall Club is located in. The club, located in the Alten Bahnhofstraße in Bochum, Germany is now closed until further notice. As it looks it's especially water damage that is the biggest problem now.
The owners of the club described the following on their Facebook page after visiting the club when the fire was extinguished : "We went in for 5 minutes to get a few things. It's a complete disaster with the ceiling hanging down, filled with water. The water drips down everywhere as if you are in a cave. There is no fire damage in the club but the blocks above are completely burned out. The cafe is 'only' wet."
According to the club the cause of the fire might be the lightening. The insurance companies are now looking into it. But as usual this can take some time. Don't expect the club to re-open anytime soon, at least not in the same building.
The Zwischenfall Club is one of the longest running clubs in Germany and opened its doors on 15 October 1985 focusing on wave, punk and rock. It soon became the central meeting place for the so called 'black scene' in the area bringing lots of concerts and events. The club was also featured in the film "Kinder der Nacht".
